JOB.

So this may deserve a bit of an update.

The original shell turned out to be fairly rusty, botched repairs just covering rust had rotted out the rear sills/arches quite thoroughly.

a mate had recently bought a V-Spec Eunos to pillage for some bits, the shell although a bit tatty appears to be solid, so we came to an agreement leading me to purchasing a second car within a month.

Set off early on a sunday from Bristol on a monster of a roadtrip ending up in Romford to collect the car, it greeted me looking a little frozen.

Drove it back to Bristol was a pleasant drive back, didnt miss a beat.

With a plan now formulated and a place for the swap located we set about it just before xmas.

Friday night we began.

With the car on the ramp the extent of the rust could be seen.

We dropped the chassis onto a trolley and moved it out in the yard where it was to be chopped up.

We did exactly the same process with this car, then refitting the running gear to the new shell.

The innards of this one are much better

we had to completely remove the looms from the cars as there were differences due to the years of the cars, first car was a 97, the new one a 92.

Bruce had fun.

This whole process took 3 full days working into the early hours, summarised here

I have been slowly getting the car back together, sorting things as I go.

This weekend I visited Phil at Unique Exhausts to sort out a new catback and fix the manifold, that had cracked and was leaking from a few places.

I asked him to sit the exhaust up above the chassis rails as the flexi used to be a good inch below them, he has done an excellent job, now have a full 2.5" catback with a single exit.

Car in and on the ramps

I didnt want a loud exhaust and this is pretty perfect, the rear box was repacked with twice the normal amount of wadding, it sits nice and high up under the car and its nice and quiet when cruising at 70, couldnt have had it any better :)

My next job is to get all the surface rust rubbed back and treated then get the full thing undersealed, once this is done I will get the chassis rails braced/protected then I cant get it lower once again, with this will come some arch work and refitting of the old wheels :)
