i say dont go with rust on the bonnet, go with chequer vinyl/fablon

there is a mk1/mk2 polo that floats about here, matt black with chequered bonnet, dont think he'd be too happy lol

thline's strike again

banded steelies wont work there to small.. even with coilovers you wont get low enough for 13"-15" wheels to work..

first of the suspention struts on all N15 coilovers are to long to go low enough.. if your gona do it properly youll need to put shorter springs and shortened dampers.. the next problem youll have with small wheels is the fact that the front subframe will be on the floor.. and the arches still wont look filled..

if your serious about it you need 16" wheels minimum.. and id go for atleast 9-10" wide with stretched tyres with an ET around 20 or lower..

i want to see you do it but you have to look at the mechanics of it standard coilovers wont go low enough and <15" wheels are to small for an almera the arches are way to big.

inahole i carnt even seriously belive you think you can just mig together banded steelies! do you have any idea the Gforces on the outside of a wheel are at speed? and how hard it would be to make 2 perfect airtight welds through 5mm steel around a 15" rim and make it perfectly ballanced? not to mention split the wheel in the first place perectly and then bend a sheet of 5mm steel into a perfect ring to fit in.. loosing a 20g wheel weight can make a car wobble like a bitch! gobsmaked is not the word..

Coilovers wont go low enough?

Thats not at maximum lowness either.
I'm pretty sure 1st gen daiyamas, k-sports, maybe even BG ones will go low enoughto put the car on the floor, it's just 2nd gen daiyamas with the big top mount that wont.
I still reckon coilovers with banded 15" steels.

lol, im thinking the same, every bump in hit it drops down beyond the screen

Bit off-topic here, you need to take the motor apart and put a small bush in to pad out the rod that drives the wiper back and forth. You'll see it moves about a few mm but equates to a few inches movement on the wiper arm. Just something like the copper barrel end of a wiring spade connector is enough.

I don't think that anybody could knock up a set, it could be done DIY and has been done DIY but you would have to be pretty handy all the same, build a couple of jigs, get a machine shop to cut your rims up, get some strips laser cut by somebody etc etc.

So you can relax in the knowledge that I don't seriously think you could do it in the back-yard with a hacksaw and a £200 welding set.

Did you really think I did?

i just read it and it sounded like you were saying you could do it yourself man.. bnut meh dunt matter i want to see it done but at the same time i want it to be done right.. so it doesnt look a complete bag of bollocks. as i like the euro look alot..

I wish it was that easy!

Without doubt it MUST be done right, any distortion and its game over.

I will (eventually) be getting some 16" Laguna steelies done, banded by 2", probably in white.

But seeing as I am on the bones of my arse it'll probably be a while yet!

right, been thinking and ive spent too much money and time on the matt black look. i think i might go for the slammed on its ass look with lots of camber, refurb the wheels, paint them white with and orange outer and tidy up the bonnet (remove the streaky lines)

how does that sound?

Sounds good.
I think orange outer with your blue side lights won't go so well though. Take them back to standard bulbs, or go for blue all round imo.

nah, jus painted on some nitromors and left it, then got a wallpaper scraper, was gonna take it all off down to the metal but ran out of nitromors lol. its a bit fcuked up.... but its meant to be like that

40grit to the left arch and onto the door, then chequered vinyl on the other front wing and roof is next on the list, might get a garfield plushy and stick it on the front grill lol

lol

id just sand the bonnet evenly, and dont bother with the other stuff, just leave it like that for a bit... after spaceing out the steelies :D

The only thing wrong imho, is the VZr grille, put a standard one on!

(I`ve still got Nymos original grille, that I sanded down somewhere).
