I hate NATS!

Nissan did recall the vehicles for this concern. The wiring harness and the lock actuator where changed as part of this. The concern was then that water could get into the plug being the A post and the door. This would short out and cause the SECU to have a fit! The Actuator was changed for a noise / wear concern at the same time.

As for locking your keys in the vehicle, the lock knob on the drivers door should unlock when you close the door. Put the window down and test it. Also the key switch in the ign barrel should stop the vehicle from being super locked as well.

Mine does niether...

I had the doors off mine to drill holes for speaker cable.
Then the locking developed sentience, and constantly taunts me to this day.

my dealer mustnt of known about it(which is no suprise), could of saved me years of hassle lol.

Once the system is acting up stops all the fail safes, the door just locks when it wants but it still only superlocks when you use the fob/key

That is another small ennoyance i find, as my rear shelf with speakers pulls the boot shut, so if you dont literally lift it all the way to the point where the struts are maxed out it will shut again, meaning you have to walk back round and pull that catch on the inside of the seat/door. Grr. ok now im just niggling. lol.

My struts dont pull the boot up. I have to push it up all the way and I dont even have speakers in the shelf! I swapped the struts for some s/h ones and no difference. Anyone else get this?

On another note, WHY oh WHY isnt there a handle to open the boot on the lid itself?!!!
This should still allow you to get in through that way even if the doors are locked...that would iradicate you ever gettin in this situation.

No it wouldn't because if the doors lock the boot will too....think about it lol.

Lol i did afterwards actually, and though bollox hopefully no one will pick up on that haha.

Yup, have the hatch halfway open and it'll just close back down.

Hi. I just had a strange problem on my car P2. I tried to turn the engine on and I heard some bleeps from the alarm and the car refused to start. The clock and trip counter has reset too. I thought it was a dodgy car battery so I changed to a size 075 battery. But now the car starts and the alarms goes off and the key fob doesnt work!! and now the indicators are flashing but the alarm is not sounding.

Can anyone please tell me what's going on as I don't want to drive around with the indicators flashing!!

Thanks

Try reprogramming your keyfob,

"Stand next to your car, hold down both buttons until the LED goes solid. Release both buttons then press the red button down untill your car unlocks."

Very odd!! The alarm and key is now working as normal! Strange!!!

Thanks!!

Can someone tell me why the clock and trip counter reset? What is the standard size battery for the gti?

it will have reset as when you changed the battery you will have disconnected the power thus resetting your settings...................

The reset happened when I came to unlock the car and turn the engine on for the first time. Then after that I changed the battery.
