My Almera GTi

thats very tidy mate. kudos.

Mine's a heap at the moment. Hit a badger in my ph1, and it ripped half the lip of the bumper. I'm considering going for the ASP bodykit, but I ain't too sure about the big round lights.

I'm about to come in to cash, so I'm considering going all out in one go and getting all the bodywork sorted, new bodykit, JDM lights and grille, new clutch, grooved discs, alloys and a new colour. Get all the work done in one span and rent a car for the 50 mile round trip to work everyday till its all done. One question I have is, anyone know the rough price of getting an almera sprayed? Its Arctic/Nordic Blue (which is it? i'll never know), and its going black.

Whoever said its lucky to get a GTi below 90k? I'm in a 96P, and I've only got 74k. I am most pleased. I thought my performance was on the slide and was considering part-ex'ing it for a P11 GT, until I found out why, the exhaust snapped on the way to work the other week, got it sorted, now getting about 400miles a tank (i don't do MPG, too hard to work out for a metric man).

Peace. and Nice car again mate, very clean.

cheers buddy ive got loads and loads of things i want to do to the car its just having the funds

id sell myself but id probably only get about 2 quid if that ha ha ha

Dan

cheers Dave looking at yours and it looks soooo nice

i think lowering is the next stage ive been looking at spax springs think they are very reasonable in price

does anybody know what the rides like with the spax springs is it harder that standard springs or softer ?

thanks Dan

^ Springs don’t really dictate the ride hardness, it’s the dampers. I found they do firm up the suspension a little tho as the damper has less travel.

i usually put £20 a week in not too sure what my mpg is depends if i floor it ha ha sticking to the speed limits :)

other people are very suprised when you beat them where i live ive only seen 3 almera GTi's so they are rare

i do think the almera GTi's do look great looking standard (the bodykit model) but i do think they also look great with aftermarket alloys

I was almost sold on Spax when I bumped into a guy who was using them & he said the ride was like a skateboard. Then I read all the spring related threads on here & a couple of people said the same thing. So I've just ordered Apex springs for my N16. If the standard shocks are ok they'll stay on, if not I'll get a set of Kayaba Excel G's - which seem to have a good rep with the guys. Eibachs & H&R springs are recommended, but much more expensive @ £150 before p+p ! That's with several quotes too

ive just fitted the kyb excel g shocks and ive got pi springs loads better than the standard i got the shocks all round for £50 each through my cousin whos a manager at bullseye so hes very handy :D

will get some pictures up when the cars clean :)

< cringe.

ill be honest my gti is on apex springs and KYB excel G's and seeing as its a bit of a slut a lot of people on here have owned or been in it at some point in its life, its bouncy dude. very. i disembowled corbs twice the other week, just a heads up, it may be different for N16s though.....

I've got excel G's with H&R springs and although I don't have much to compare to they seem a good setup. The ride is firm but not harsh, and only suffers from a bit of bounce wth the big bumps and potholes. Mine's a daily driver and it's comfortable on most roads.

That shouldnt create bouncing though should it? The damping should be slightly better (only slightly though as they are rated as OEM+).

ive been a bit busy the last month just had fitted new lowering springs and shocks all round both wishbones changed
and a service oil, oil filter and spark plugs

the car feels and looks loads better

also fitted a sony 8 inch active subwoofer sounds brilliant not too much bass just right

oh yeah and a sticker for my back window

will get some pictures up at the weekend :D
