Oh dear well what a day.. as some of you know my car decided to drop its gearbox oil from between the engine & the box a short time ago, so today I set out to replace the leaky gearbox and refit my lightened Flywheel and new Paddle clutch.
I soon found where the oil was leaking from, my Primera P11 GT box just couldnt hack it...
So I cleaned up the new replacement gearbox which incidentally is an Almera GTi one.. Before:
After:
Removed the old standard clutch:
Removed the heavyyy Primera Fly:
Primera GT Fly on left, Lightened Almera GTi Fly on right..
Weight difference yo! Primera GT Fly:
Almera GTi Fly:
Old and New setups...
New Clutch..
New Fly fitted:
New Clutch fitted:
Clean Inner CV yo!
Here's where the fun started, I reassembled the whole car, and filled up with gearbox oil.. then I noticed a pretty sufficient leak from the drivers side driveshaft.. which meant I had to pull the shaft out and swap the seal over to the one from the old box, bit annoying after I'd already done so much in one go, but ah well, its not leaking now so I'm happy
The clutch feels good so far, very grippy and there's actually a decent bite on it which I didn't expect
The Almera GTi gearbox does feel a bit different to the Primera GT one though.. but I'll give a proper verdict after a few more drives.
