My N15 5-door GTi Build...

Oh dear well what a day.. as some of you know my car decided to drop its gearbox oil from between the engine & the box a short time ago, so today I set out to replace the leaky gearbox and refit my lightened Flywheel and new Paddle clutch.
I soon found where the oil was leaking from, my Primera P11 GT box just couldnt hack it...

So I cleaned up the new replacement gearbox which incidentally is an Almera GTi one.. Before:

Here's where the fun started, I reassembled the whole car, and filled up with gearbox oil.. then I noticed a pretty sufficient leak from the drivers side driveshaft.. which meant I had to pull the shaft out and swap the seal over to the one from the old box, bit annoying after I'd already done so much in one go, but ah well, its not leaking now so I'm happy :)
The clutch feels good so far, very grippy and there's actually a decent bite on it which I didn't expect :)
The Almera GTi gearbox does feel a bit different to the Primera GT one though.. but I'll give a proper verdict after a few more drives.

Excellent Joe. Good days work I reckon! I'd love to pluck up the confidence and grab to tools to be able to do this on my own car. I'd love to take it all apart just to see what's going on :D.

Really werid that small hole. What caused it? What's behind there?

I was so annoyed when I saw oil leaking again, I thought I was gonna have to remove the box againnnn.
I can't believe the casing's broken on the old box though, why do you think thats happened?

any breaks or chips in the clutch disc? its a long shot but maybe a bit broke off?

Yeah mate it drove 100% fine, been driving it around for 2 weeks, and there was still oil in it when I took the drain plug out today :)
Nutssss

YEAH............ great work pal, so glad you got it now all fixed. the pressure plate looks exactly like mine. very on/off in traffic huff lol. that rear rubber mount beez a neat trick too.

^haha thats yet to be confirmed mate..
I can't make up my mind how the car feels, just been for a drive and I'm really not liking the Almera GTi gearbox :(
Joe

Well I don't know, its hard to judge because I've changed the clutch and Fly again too, so it feels different anyway.
Plus I haven't drove it spirited since it started leaking Gearbox oil, just to be safe.
It does feel slower IMO..
But the main thing is the clutch bites very hard, and dosen't slip :)
Joe

Maybe just one of those things like when you've been driving a hire car for a few days and then get back in yours, it always feels different - not necessarily better or worse, just different?
