N15 Pickup: Research

im thinkin about taking a grinder to the almera at the weekend if corbs dont i will got alot off free time coming up at work

It HAS to be a 3dr IMO... as in a 5dr, because the doors are shorter, (too short!) the front seats are actually behind the B-pillar when in a comfortable position.
So if you did it to a 5dr, you'd be sitting right forward lol.
If you used a 3dr and cut just behind the B-pillar, you'd still have a fair cabin space.

Nah the shape has to be the 3-door style but I just don't think there'd be enough space in the pickup bed to make it worthwhile.
On that scooby saloon, the body is a 4-door but they've added an extra bit of cabin to get the lines right and provide enough space for the seats, works rather well I think.
Ideally I'd have 3 door B pillars and doors and a saloon shell, but thats impractical.

I reckon use a saloon shell, then the rearmost part of the roof and top of the tailgate from a 3/5 door, so you have room to sit and it rounds off the back of the cabin.
OR
Construct a back part of the cabin from a GTi B-pillar, on a 4-door chassis.

So ideally you'd want the front (B-post forward) off of the 3 door and the rear (B-post back) off of the Saloon to get reasonable space in the cabin and useable load area in the back?

B4's nearly ready for MOT, not going to start chopping it now Rob!

So ideally you'd want the front (B-post forward) off of the 3 door and the rear (B-post back) off of the Saloon to get reasonable space in the cabin and useable load area in the back?

Exactly!

Will it be used as a Pick-Up truck though?

Or is it just one of those Things to be different?

e/g Scotts Van, was made into a van, but wasn't really used as a van, so rather than mix matching shells, just do it on a 3 door.

What about leaving the cabin open but retaining the back section for a removable hard top? Wouldn't have to worry about sealing the cabin then but you could only use it with the top off in the summer.

Gets damn draughty. Anyone who's driven a WW2 jeep will know what I mean. DAMN cold.

I'd want to use it as a pickup, not a show car. My cars earn their living.
