OBX Power Pulley Kit sr20de

Ed you don't have a clue about pulleys, I don't know the answers to those questions so I haven't answered. Making an uneducated guess COULD do damage to someones car / engine and so only give advice if you know what you're talking about.

I love my almera but it is so slow on the first meters. The car next to me run always up a few meter then the almera is coming back. I want more low power, so i was thinking about flywheel change, pulley kit, throttle pulley and a/c pulley.

sr20 cranks are balanced from the factory, theres hundreds of people running aftermarket pulleys that have no issues, I will be fitting some unorthodox pulleys on mine soon enough

Ayyee its up for debate, no need to be an arse phil i take heed in what fank says jesus man..

lol ed :) i,m not saying dont buy them, maybe the SR,s are,nt prone to crank whip i dunno ?
i was just amused by the contradictions on that web page :P
but i do think pulleys are very poor bang/buck tho

Im not too sure if they are poor bang for buck, what is work out inc delivery Say £225 ?

if it gave 7-10hp from idle to redline thats not too bad imo.

where you getting your info edlar? you have become awfully knowledgable recently....

pulleys are one of the best bang for buck mods you can do on an sr20, the weight saving and underdriving make all the difference

Would be interesting to see the difference on a RR (As with all mods)

Seriously, club funds - standard GTi, everyone lends a bolt on and we try them all out in a day. :D

Sombody point me in the direction of whoever it was that had a failure due to these pullies?.

..Im sure I can point a finger at somthing as equally irrelivant to blame.

the initial batch of underdrive pulleys, like the first ones ever made for the SR engine were machined incorrectly they damaged the seals causing oil leaks leading to failures, all the newer pulleys gspec/unorthodox are manufactured with a collar pressed over the inside of the pulley this prevents any damage to the seal, the only failure relating to a crank pulley I have seen recently was caused by 10k rpm+ and a substancial amount of boost

yeh seal failure maybe, and probably due to seals not being changed along with pulleys. i mean who'd do that, honestly i ask you

frank ma boi sam is right, the GTi 4cw crank is a great piece of work. to look at against the early 8cw is very odd looking indeed mind, however very well balanced.

i think 4 - 6hp achievable with a 2 piece pullie kit and then 6 - 8hp with a 4 piece.

Samy darling youve taking franks view and gone to another extreme i belive i was somewhere in the middle

That was off the website itselfs that data.. but its all up to the indivdual at the end of the day

Hence open debate.. id personal go for the view..

''Harmonic balancers only prevent the transfer of 'harmonic vibrations' through to the passengers of the vehicle, which in turn creates NVH. The only thing that does that, is the hardened strip of rubber between each pulley. Back in the day, engines didn't have this luxury so in turn - they certainly weren't called harmonic blancers, they used the plain old simple term 'crank pulley' ...

Otherwise it's just a balanced rotational mass, and all aftermarket underdrive pulley's are balanced from factory - much like any flywheel or crankshaft or turbine shaft, etc would too be balanced from factory..

It's just you SR boys are afraid of them for some strange reason, cause a minority of lads used those poorly made GFB products which had incorrect key's and caused main seal wear from bad clearance. The UR products however, are fantastic.

Plenty of documented successes using lightweight pulleys.

Afterall - someone's got to take the leap, and restore the faith.. ''

But if u woud like to see the other end of the argument

but the harmonic damper (2 piece pulley separated by the rubber insert) has no affect on balance tho david surely ? , its designed to counter crank whip aint it :)
edit, what ed just said lol
