How do you get the locking pin to release when you first fit it?

It's supposed to release when you tighten the nuts. With Steve's experience he's the best to say if they actually do or not. I've heard a lot of people who have removed the cam cover to be sure and do it manually if not, and others who have turned the engine over manually until it releases.

Yea I was expecting something different. I know they do Steve but it must sound like a big bag of spanners until the tensioner releases

Someone on NPOC has proposed doing something to try and quieten his chain. He is gonna back the nuts off and get the tensioner to hopefully go onto the next tooth of the ratchet mechanism and then tighten it back up.

I can see him snapping studs to be honest
