Phase 2 GTi

if you're gonna paint the wheels, bronze. if really not then gunmetal. not black imo

looks awesome as it is though as said

^ I was thinking gunmetal as a first choice, but wanted to see them in black.

But I think I shall just leave them, otherwise the AOC will dis-own me :(

Another job, is to re-paint the calipers, as at the mo they are mixed colours - on the fronts they still have red carriers, but the caliper is a re-con unit in silver. So I need to make it all red again. I have some small 'Nissan' brake caliper decals in white, so I'll put them on as well to see if it looks any good.
Pics will follow soon!

FRONT BUMPER RESPRAYED :)

It was a right mess before, as so:

But now, with a fresh re-spray:

Only a question of time before it gets wrecked again, but oh well, enjoy it while it lasts!

Ive just got a quote of £90 for the rear windows to be tinted, or £130 for the whole car.

So the question is: to tint? or not to tint?

What do you reckon?

I was thinking of getting the back 3 done, the whole car would look awesome, but I cant be arsed to be fined or have to rip the tint off the front windows....

So, tint back 3, then get some wind deflectors on the front???

Opinions??

I shouldn't do anything without the full AOC approval

Tommo had a medium Tint all round on his GTi, as far as I know he never got pulled for it and it looked awesome.

As long as you don't go too dark then it should be fine. :thumb:

Yeh Tommo's did look really good!

I was thinking Dark on the back going into lighter on the front. The guy did say that it is illegal to have anything on the front windows though, so I don't know if it worth me paying the extra to have them ripped off at a later date + a fine...

THE LAW ON TINTED WINDOWS

How dark a car windscreen tint can I have?
There are legal limits specifying how dark tinted windows can be on a vehicle:

* behind the B Post (ie rear passenger windows and rear screen) there are no limits
* side windows in front of the B Post (ie front passenger windows) must allow 70% of light through
* front windscreens must allow 75% of light through

Be careful whether the tint you are considering blocks 70% of light or allows through 70% of light. For front windows the regulations are about the amount of light that is allowed through. Also be aware that if you have a factory tint that blocks 10%, you will only be able to block an additional 20%.

If the meter registers figures better than those mentioned above during a roadside check, there is no problem. If between 45% and 65% of light gets through, the driver is advised to have the tinting removed, failure to do which might result in a prosecution and a fine of up to £2000.

For between 30% and 45% of light transmission the vehicle is assumed to be unfit for use but not to pose an immediate danger. A delayed prohibition is issued and the owner has up to ten days from the date of issue to remove the tint.

At less than 30% the legal position is that driving the vehicle would involve a risk of injury, and the vehicle cannot be moved under its own power from the issuing of the prohibition notice until the tint has been removed.

GTi windows are slightly tinted from the factory... so adding 25% of tint will put them over the legal limit.

^yeh, I have heard similar... But if it has to let that much light through, I don't see any point in doing them. Not sure what that tint would look like?...

Best thing to do is ask a tinting specialist, it is not illegal to have front tints but they do have to be quite light.

the film to keep it legal on the fronts would have to be almost see-through.... just get 25% everytime you see a popo car put your windows down  depends how often you get pulled over though too

i would go for a medium on the rear 3 windows and light on both fronts
or get the rears done, then see how it looks and go back for fronts if need be
