How come you all have GTi's but i'm getting the same milage as you lot on my 1.4 Si? I suppose i may get a little bit more, but only about 300 per tank... but still!

Actually, my cars running rich me thinks, judging by the amount of black crap that keeps getting itself all over my exhaust :(

Yeah, I thought the two might be linked, writing that thread reminded me, which is why I re-brought to life my old oil consumption thread.

Thanks Alan :)

eeeerm

My maths is rusty at the mo... but it takes approx £30 to fill it with unleaded at around 95p a litre...

0.95 x 30 = 28.5L?

Wild child, the sum will be 30/0.95 = 31.95L,

I'll be honest this seems a bit small for the fuel tank.

I'm sure you can check it on parkers or whatcar, from memory i used to regulary put £40 + of unleaded into my si when i had that hence why i reckon yours is too small.

On a side note i can't work out my mpg at the mo since my odometer is playing up. My usual MPG in the GTI is around the 29-30 mark.

Same happens in my Si aswell mate. Long runs get great mileage but around town and to work or just randomly driving about and stuff just hitting 300 in this warmer weather which is 20-30miles better than what i got in the cold weather.

I've never put £40 in

Think last time I filled it from the low fuel light being on till it was full to the needles right at the top... cost about £30... but fuel may have been a tad cheaper... that might have been the other mera though.

I'm not sure how i'd find it out without running the fuel down to nothing again and then filling it right up.

Ah well, not that bothered.

Yeah I only really drive inside the town, to my girlfriends, dads work, my work etc etc... Only gets to go on motorway every now and again - and even then its only a couple-o-hundred miles... that may be why i'm quoting lower than it actually averages at.

I fill up when light comes on - Vpower, £1.01 at the mo, and roughly £40 to fill up till it stops and then a put a little extra in, just hitting 300miles. Quick look on Parkers and says we have a fuel capacity of 50 L

Vpower last week in Newcastle was 99.9p so I filled it right up.. Im still going and Im almost at 280 miles.. so I'll keep an eye on it

Dont tend to pay that much attention as I dont always fill the tank up, sometimes Its just £20-30..

So how the hell are the Si's mpg very very similar to the GTi's?? As when me dad complains about me always 'filling up' I tell him Im getting over 30mpg and he just doesnt believe me!!

You can't really compare your 'mileage from a tank' to GTI's fella, a GTi has roughly a 45litre tank and yours is roughly 30litres...sounds like you've been doing about the same mileage out of a tank as a GTi does...but you've been doing it on 15 litres less petrol!

edit: here's a quick calculation...

Your fuel consumption seems about right to me! :)

Just filled up 35mpg average from the tank with mixed motorway driving/B-road hooning. Mint.

there all about the same, our p10 is heavier and alot more powerful than my almera but for £20 driving in the same conditions it will do the same if not slightly more miles than the almera will. the 1.4 isnt great on petrol really considering the power of it, annoying to think my dads got alot more power but its the same on petrol as my little car with a small engine which everyone considers eco-freindly etc.

iv had 380ish miles to a full tank, petrol light only flashed on then aswell so probably had a bit left, that was all motorways at 60-70mph and a little bit of A-roads.
