Ross Autech

ok it was a nice day today so i got some interior work done

strip out the interior.

VZR carpet on the left, UK N15 carpet on the right. about 5kg weight difference between these due to the UK one having a 2-3mm layer of rubber on it. you can see light through the VZR one.

carpet laid in, i cut it from the center console to the end so you can whip it out in no time without taking half the dash apart. it just slots around it then gets held down by the ECU.

then since i was feeling generous i washed, clayed, washed and wax'd it

that's a good weight saving for just a carpet swap mate!, also good to see your finding the love for the tech again!

nice work ross, :)

you keeping it with full interior or you gonna keep it stripped, :)

ill be keeping the full interior for road use. stripping down for the strip.

its not hassle to pull the carpet out now that i have cut that strip under the ECU.

Phil, yeah, the UK one was just a temporary thing as my autech one was a bit tatty and kept coming unhooked and looking raggedy. the uk one doesnt match up though, a lot of fitting in a JDM car are different. dylan sorted me out with a VZR one, so all is good. it has a big hole in it but the fitted mats cover that up anyway so im not too fussed.

Ok so having been at pod yesterday ive learned a few things i need to work on with this car.

a few issues i found this weekend being the tracking was out as i left the poly wishbones fitting till the night before... and the front of my car is higher than the rear, bad for traction. so in fairness my lazyness let me down. but there was a bigger more irritating issue...

Last time i raced (before mapping) my times got progressively slower as the day went on. starting at 14.9 and going all the way up to 15.8. i put it down to being overly sensitive because it wasnt mapped and it got pretty hot weather wise as the day went on.

its mapped now... and the same happened at pod again... 15.1 in the morning 3 runs. going up to 15.8 in the afternoon. so its clear the car is suffering a bad case of heat soak / doesnt enjoy hot weather. so i guess my 4" feed aing good enoug.

back to the old days i guess!

went to the local motorsports shop for some parts :

filter in, bit tall, but i can sort that later with a shorter / wider filter :

obviously its just a box... still gonna get hot. so some heat deterrant :

into the bay :

and connected to the other end of this :

took it for a test drive, and it not only feels better up top, but the box remains icy at all times.

Ghetto fabulous kids!
