Sprints Primera eGT

My dad has had a p10 and p11 GT, and worked on and drove different Nissans for years. He's of the opinion that the Primera has far superior handling to the Almera. I think that's the general consensus from most people who've driven both for long periods.

Yeah maybe they do handle better but they dont look as good.

I agree. At the moment I prefer the looks of my SRi (from the front when 5 dr arnt visible) than the Primera. The GTi's look the dogs. I still like the way the Primeras look though.

Probably my faveourite P10 apart from mine.... :P

I love everything about this car. The alloys, the pulleys, the condition of the paintwork and the overall condition of the car.
I like how you haven't spent that much on the exterior, more of performance mods etc.

Was really really really nice to finally meet you and the car a few weeks ago at Anglesey. Sitting in it and been transported to the cuircit in it was a dream come true. Makes me real proud to also be an owner of a P10. Also gives me a target of how i want mine to pull like :P

Can't wait to see both of you (the car and yourself) again at JAE or summat.

John.

im bored, so thought i would update this

have now got a fidanza flywheel on it, and an enclosed filter. also upgraded the brakes, r32 four pots on the front and p11 280mm rears, stops pretty well now, had them smoking on track and they were perfect so i really cant fault them at all. numerous other bits and pieces, but mainly bits that seem to cost a fortune but only really help keep me happy, such as finding a mint interior, getting a second bumper sprayed etc.

it goes quite well, but its obviously stupidly heavy which is annoying. will be ripping out the air con when i get chance, and i fancy getting rid of the sunroof as well, it went well with the back stripped out for track but i just cant justify doing that all the time, just feels wrong in a 4 door tbh. got to the stage were every upgrade seems to cost a fortune, and it already owes me a fortune, so going to keep it as is for a little while and get my insurance etc paid off and start again in the spring when i can afford to.

was a mess on track, covered in grease etc, had destroyed the gearbox the day before and been up til 4am getting everything back together, had near enough finished the box change in 4 hours then everything went wrong after that, oil seal failed, needed a different driveshaft as the cups on the box were different, randomly decided not to run right etc.

who said you cant have fun in a mint car? show and shine at JAE, on track a month later, best of both worlds for sure i reckon. might be on track again next month, possibly doing oulton park 1st december but nothing definate yet.

cant see me doing much more with this engine tbh, 119k and it does run sweet as a nut, but it just doesnt seem worth throwing cash at something that could go pop soon, with the way its driven its probably a matter of time.

need to get some money behind me and get another engine in it, the shell is mint and im happy with the rest of the car, but it needs something specail under the bonnet really, not sure what il do next but i have been buying shares with work that pays out next summer and will give me a nice lump sum, just got to decide what to spend it on and start collecting parts i think, then use the lump sum to get it up and running.

the egt engine was meant to be the dogs danglies, 7.5k rev limit 150bhp and all...

Get another one, and rebuild it + some nice cams/headwork port matched intake/exhaust

iv got another 2 highports knocking around  maybe one will get rebuilt, maybe il buy another engine, but whatever happens its got to be reliable, which is another reason why i havent bothered going any further with the current engine, i can jump in and turn the key and abuse it all the way to scotland if i wanted to and it would take it fine, hard to be motivated to dump that in favour of something different and unknown, we have had this car since 54k so this engine is vey well known to me.

she aint going anywhere mate, FAR too much invested now, id never see much of it whatever i did as alot of it is in bodywork etc.

hopefully next year il be doing some 1/4 mile days with you guys, always been interested to see what it will do against a GTi, i obviously have the heavier car but not sure how big a difference that would be. tried to get to a few this year but money has been tighter than i would have liked so havent had the chance. if theres a few almeras on track il be there as well, was going to do mallory but uni deadlines got in the way sadly, needs an active year of abuse next year though.

Well 16.5 seems to be the going time for a standardish P11 GT. I would guess that the P10 is lighter. 2010 will definitely be a year I'll be more active on track.

You already said the tyres are crap. The handling could be the best in the world but with crap tyres it ain't gonna grip is it :P

The front multi-link suspension of the Primera is way better than the McPherson strut suspension of the Almera. They used the same setup on the 300zx and Skyline ;)

This. Primera eGT and GT out handle the Almera GTi. Front and rear multi link, good condition shocks and springs on low profile wide rubber and they're immense trust me.

I've got the same rear suspension :D N16's was pulled straight off a P11. Not the front though :/

well as this is now off the road, thought this would be a good time to do an update.

its currently SORN, will be getting completely rebuilt, hopefully be back on the road for JAE next year as theres no rush, want it all powder coated and perfect underneath, everything clean etc. and no rush what so ever as i now have another eGT to use daily, and can only insure one at a time so no point rushing it anyway.

Lovely motors mate and love the plans for it. Sounds like you're going for a real mint track slag :thumb:

Even the daily looks awesome!
