ok thanks i will probably need them ASAP if i find these ones are knackered :) and to think of it the engine did make a small rattle from the head and i think it said this in the haynes that if they werent bled properly then they would rattle.

ok this is it, all the pics from thursday and friday night. the only bit of hassle i had was refitting the valves as i said before my spring compressor wouldnt fit so i used a socket on removal but this wouldnt work on refitting so after about 2 hours on the 1st valve i found a way to to do which was a pile of 7 washers on top of the spring to pack it up (if only i can think quicker lol) well here are the pics there pretty self explanitory :D

You dont need the top chain guide, it`ll only rattle.

A nice quick rebuild though, and i hope its sorted the oil burning issues. Did you find anything suspicious when the engine was taken apart?
I`m itching to start mine as soon as i`m well enough.
 
ok people success!! car is now working again, started properly the 2nd time round :) everything looks and sounds spot on. and once i was happy with it i turned it off and got locked out of the car. so had to go all the way home to pick up my fobs which didnt unlock the car cause maybe the ignition was on?? anywho i bend some metal rod and got it open thank god with the only damage being a scratch on my window tint.

SAM- the timing chain has slight different coloured marks and at the point of the pictures i had already timed the engine and turned it over.

ROWDY- yeah it only been 6 days since it last run so im very happy. some of the oil rings were buggered says the guy at engine resource and when i done the stem seals they were pretty loose and come right off no problem.

also i will put the full price for all the work and parts i used once ive calculated it so people can get a rough price but remember i done most of the work. overall it was great doing something new and i cant wait to see how it all works out :D

hey since doing the engine i didnt seem to plug the speedo drive on. and now having a good look about i cant seem to find the connection for it. ive looked at the loom coming from the bulkhead and i think i can say it doesnt come off that so is it the wrap around loom on the engine? or is it completely seperate :)
 
nah because then i wouldnt have needed to unplug it if you know what i mean, i know where the speedo is im just asking if anyone knows where the connection for it comes from? which loom.....
