going to have a go at fitting this at the weekend but,how do you get the old sun roof out?

do you need to remove the roof lining

Yeah Andy whip the roof lining out by removing all the grab handles/sun visors/rear view mirror etc. Then the Sunroof unit comes out easily by removing 10mm nuts
Just make sure you disconnect all the wires first lol

Its in fine condition, the colour consistency just isn't the most consistent. Its the same on a few from the Group buy. Would be great after a quick blast over with black.

Wouldn't it be easier to remove sunroof, cover with plastic pannel and cover roof with carbon self adhesive film.

Thats what I am doing, would look 100 times better and maybe cheaper.
Sheet of plastic from B&Q 10 Pounds.
Carbon or any black self adhesive film 20-30 Pounds.

End result

My roof will have a carbon finish, yes looks funny now but with the carbon wrap will look hot.
When finished I will add pictures.
The items you guys are using just looks like those disabled paranomic roofs you see in some Polo's and Merc a-class's.

That and it'd probably look shit after a year.

Oh and about the look of ours, i think the entire point of these blanks are for function, not form. I'm not going to sit back looking at my gutted Gti with no roof lining, bare metal everywhere, maybe a roll cage and a few battlescars of track racing and think "yeah that sunroof blank ruins it".
