Swap My VZR for an EK4 SiR???

Hi all,

what are your opinions on this. I currently have a 1999 Nissan Pulsar VZ-R, totally standard as Mr. Nissan intended. I've had the car for sale for the past while but it has not being moving. On Saturday i spotted a 1999 Pulsar VZR N1 going through the auctions which was later removed due to incorrect paper work. After speaking to a lad to import it for me I was told it will most likely come back up for auction this week and i decided to drop my asking price to see if i could get a quick sale. I dropped my asking price to €7000, a drop of well over €1000 and i've a fella coming to see it on Saturday! Now this N1 is not guaranteed to come back up at auction but i'm takinh a chance!

Heres my Car!

Heres the N1 when it was up for auction the weekend!

Heres where it gets interesting. I received a PM from a guy on one of the Irish Forums offering me a straight swap for his 1997 Honda Civic SiR (1.6 VTEC). This car comes extremely well spec'd. When this car first came on the market a few weeks ago I offered to swap for it but he refused as he was looking for cash at the time!

Here's teh spec of it:
1997 ek b16a
fully serviced and timing belt done by tuning factory
5zigen 421 manifold
de cat
spoon n1 exhaust system
hks induction kit
hondata ecu
lsd
razo short shifter
lowered
4 strut bracres(2 front 2 rear)
ek9 type r steering wheel
mugen rep carbon front lip
type r rear lip (not fitted)
fully colour coded
pioneer head unit
clifford alarm
Standard SiR alloys
tested for 2 years

I have a CRX SiR also at the moment and i really like the Honda's but the Pulsars are less common. Hondas are quicker and more tuneable also! Looking at the spec i reckon i'm getting a pretty good deal on a straight swap providing the Civic is a straight car. There is some pretty expensive extras on the car like the Spoon exhaust, 5zigen manifold and the Hondata Ecu!

What would ye do. Personally i think the Red Civic is different for a civic and it's a car i had interest in before. I could go for the N1 if it comes up again for auction but will be waiting for ages again. It was this time last year that i bought my current VZR and it arrived in Ireland in March! Might also be disappointed by the N1 also!!!

Help me make a decision!

Cheers

Well that looks like a really nice civic, being red,its is different, but looks very well too.Seeing that you want rid of your car, then if you go look at the civic and its straight with no problems i think its a fairly good swap.If it turns out soon after you want to get rid of the civic it would probably be easy enough to sell it as there is a big market for them.At the end of the day if its what you want you will buy it,having had two hondas myself i would have a soft spot for them too,,,,,,whatever you do good luck with it ;)

i'd personally go for the n1 if it had to be a choice between the two.. i mean, the n1 is very rare and always will be, civics are EVERYWHERE.. nothing special about them anymore seeing as everyone has one.. but each to their own

Ya the car is in Tallaght. Any chance one of ye could do me a huge favour?

Will: Ya this fella used own a Pulsar before. If ye know the car let me know. Getting more and more fond of her!

The n1 will hold it's value for years to come, (if that matters). But that Civic is very nice. And like you said, easier to tune.

Then again he used to have a pulsar before so he obviously thinks its a better car if he wants to get another?

I'd go for the civic, plenty more power to get out of that engine you want for less dosh than getting more power out of a vzr or n1

yup i would go for the civic. vtec all the way. slap a turbo and that civic for shits n giggles and that would be rapid

The Hondata ECU stands in at nearly a grand, 5Zigen stuff is big bucks and spoon stuff is also expensive! Dont want to ever suggest getting rid of an almera/pulsar but that civic is everything i would look for in a street/daily driver. Get the front seats to match and buy it now!

The N1 is quicker than an EK9, I can see why you'd consider that civic he wants to swap, but for the fun factor I think the N1 would be better.

I had a rather large bid on that N1 as well!!

was pretty annoyed to see it pulled out of auction.. it was actually a Jan 98 build... but first registered in 99... (which is what the Jap dates go off...)

so you take your civic... and I'll have my black N1 i've dreamed of...

it wasn't listed on the USS database as an N1.. so it may not have been noticed by too many people....

regardless... i may already have an N1 and two regular VZ-Rs.... Its just that I don't have a black N1!!!!

Just questioned him on the Hondata ECU. He tells me its just an S100 chip and not a full ECU. Reckon he's telling porkies. Think the car only has a Spoon N1 axle back exhaust also!

The car is in Dublin so i won't have a chance to get to see it until late next week!

@Shiney Blue: The database i saw it listed on had it marked as an N1. Even had VZ-R N1 written on the auction sheet. How does the N1 that you have compare to the blue top VZ-R?
