See, perfect examples. Those offsets with those wheel widths are allowing those tyre sizes to work.

interesting indeed, cheers for explaining. That kinda shows that rolled arches aren't such a necessity. Unless going for some really unique stuff. btw how to calculate difference between wheel width with the same offset? 8J's with et35 won't be same as 7J's with et35 I reckon, haven't found useful calc online, and yeah, I suck at math:D
 
Found this leak the other day, noticed burned oil smell after doing some high rev driving, turns out carters sealant wasn't changed properly, few pics of fixing that:

Hope it lasts. Also noticed increase in vibration on idle, front and back mounts are on the way, OEM ones are way too expensive so I'm thinking of modifying the mount holders to fit other diameter mounts. Will see how that goes.
 
Fit poly mounts. It gets better after a time. I thought it would be bad but its not once they're bed in. Improves the feel of the engine loads too.

yeah, I'm considering that too, lack of experience on poly mounts, that's whats holding me. No research can give me feeling how it would actually feel. Stiffer no doubt, how much - unclear. Shaky engine can cause some other issues over time, like every time you're starting it or turning off, the inlet manifold is taking additional movement. When I'll have some extra money, I might give them a try
 
They're very cheap, prob not much more than getting OEM. I would do like I have and have a rear poly mount and OEM front. Seems a nice setup with no undue vibrations.
 
Got the tires finally, these are continental viking contact 3 205/50/16. Pretty satisfied with the performance, no more abs kicking on the foot:D
I was a bit afraid that Team dynamics pro race 1.2 won't fit the overall looks, but black on black seems to be the right choice for now.


Had some thoughts about offsets, these R16 are et38 and looks like there isn't much more space for bigger offsets, I remember reading edk's type c's got et30 on the front or something like that, might think of rolling my arches in the future..

So, time for some updates. Changed the engine mounts (front and back), went the lower diameter way, the difference is about 0,2mm, so no noticeable difference. Why this way? Cost mainly, haven't found any cheaper replacement mounts for oem ones, now there's a wider range to pick up from if needed to replace someday, no trouble finding the poly ones too I believe. Just got to measure newly welded mounts more accurately.

Other things on the spot, rust above windshield. Don't know how it got there, as far as I've looked the windshield itself have been changed before me, so maybe it wasn't placed in properly or something like that. Anyway that lead to some serious work done. It has corroded pretty good, if the rust will come out after a few years, re-welding will be the only option.

Also I got some paint missing in the gap between the trunk the the roof, so that is being fixed too. Some pics from the process:

Finally spraying works have been finished, took about a week to sort things out. Had a ginger 2.2Di for that time, can't say it's enjoyable after owning dci for a few months now. Anyway, no more worries about the body rust for now, can move to other things.

Oh and yeah, black mustache fits better I reckon. Used the opportunity while painting the roof. Need something more for the front end, will have to figure that out.

Good work. Cupra splitter for the front? Try a smaller bonnet badge too (use a tailgate badge).
 
yeah, something like a blue felt, I don't actually like it very much, gonna swap to stock colors in the future or go for something different. Previous owner did it.

Yellow fogs probably the cheapest way making the most difference, check on that on. Cupra splitter, dunno, how much does it cost nowadays, around £50? Would really like to go for the JDM front, not in the plans for this year unfortunately.
 
Make's me want new wheel's an thing's got a gearbox to save up for first :/

Got a small update for the back, switching two store spoiler for classy oem one. Massive thanks to bnicholls92, sending it down here took an effort for sure. Still something missing in the back, ph1 lights maybe? Found the skirts in Z11, gonna fit them later on.

After a quick clean, it looks pretty shiny, eh?

Small update, interior things started moving, sub removed, amplifier too, additional blue lighting disconnected. Saved around 10 kgs there, kinda sad without a sub, will try to find some smaller one probably. Have to admit, previous owner was obsessed with sound proofing foam, its everywhere, doors, trunk, celling. Not sure what to do with it.

and got the skirts fitted properly. Left it on the glue, tested, holds fine.

Had a chance to weight the car, 10 liters of fuel, no spare tire, without a driver. Pretty close to original stats, not sure why right side is so much more heavy?
