Thinking of getting a 1.4

Use your mom as a named driver instead of your dad, as that knocked £200 off mine.
I'm 6 foot dead, with Looong legs and never have had any issues with the Almera.. I have the seat about 2/3 of the way back, but really reclined.
Also I have the steering wheel really high.

i have had/got 2 almeras 1.4's wrote first one off ! got an Si for 2nd had it for 2 years now, cant really fault it other than my "character" on the 1 of me arches.

i could insure a 1.6 to save my life after a claim at 18, hence the 1.4.

at the mo i'm with admiral ,own policy full comp,19yrs of age 1claim(my fault) and mods declared! £1200 had to pay monthly so its around 1400 now.

im 19, 1 years bonus, nearly 2 years driving on a 1.6 fully comp with business use... 550 quid...

try norwich union. frikkin cheap

as for EDK...

that was a fair jibe... but your well and truly on that list now.

i wouldn't sleep at next years JAE :)

Give Elephant a go. They were the cheapest by far for me. When it comes to modding down the line they will allow that. Annoys the hell out of me when I see cheap deals with Tesco etc when I know they dont insure modded cars, but you get so many crap drivers out there driving standard cars that are more likely to have a crash... it's the reality of it but it makes no sense.

tesco value was dearer than tesco premium for me...

Admiral over 12 months said £1360 for 1.4 and 1.6 gx. So monthly would be more.

Direct line seem like the best after trying all the above.

Fully comp monthly payments on my own:
1998 Nissan Almera 1.4 gx £1,538.25

1998 Nissan Almera 1.6 gx £1,672.65

I drive a 1.4Si 3 door and I have to admit I have loved driving it for the past 3 years. It is my 1st car and will be up for sale within the next few weeks.

Well I had a Fiesta as my third car is was a 1.3i and was nippy enough, I had it lowered, alloys and a perfromance backbox, SI bumpers on it and a nice spoiler, have to say when it was lowered it was uber fun like driving a go kart, & I've had an almera GTi which I loved, but that was 2.0. Have to say I'm 6ft3 & didn't have a problem with either car. there pros and cons to each like the almera will be cheaper to buy and probably cheaper to insure as it not that appealing to theifs, but parts can be more expensive, and modding is harder.

The fiesta will probably be slightly cheapy of parts and petrol, & they'll be a load more 2nd hand parts available.

I've never driven a 1.4 or 1.6 almera so can't really do a like for like comparison, best bet it to test drive a few and see which you like, would have to say thought that I think the 1.4 almera will be slightly under powered compared to the fiesta as almera are heavy..

Yeah perhaps I should look at the 1.6 minimum. 0-60 is 10.6 in the 1.6 parkers say which is very reasonable. Scooby the thing is, for the same money the only fiesta i can buy is a mark 4 one, which is pretty awful to look at imo. My ideal car ever, would be a zetec S, but I've not currently got the £1900 required for even the half decent ones. I'm trying to find a compromise for price and performance and the 1.6 Almera seems like a good idea. The 1.4 zetec fiesta is about the same performance as the 1.6 almera (10.8), but would lose out from 60-100 since it's much less powerful.

Also next october I intend to go to university, so this car only has to last me a year to get my 1years ncb, after next year I can afford to insure some quite decent cars plus I can use student loans and money saved from a job to get a zetec S for example.

For me I would get the Almera purely as you get more car for the money and it will be more reliable, have to say I would have an almera GTi over a Zetec S all day long, but your best bet (as said before) is to try out both cars to be honest facts and figure are only really half the story it how you feell driving them....

Almera GTi is uninsurable for me mate. Zetec S is the nicest and nippiest car I can get insured on, you see. The trade off's between 1.6 Almera and 1.6 Zetec S. But you are right. I know a friend with an almera ill ask him if i can have a drive. Cheers.
