What do you think i could get this for?

Right, yes it's still an Almera and a 11 year oldone at that. But it's a special one, that's already in the country ready to drive away.

I wouldn't pay that much for it, because I'd rather just mod a GTi. But if you wan't it....you may just have to pay 'over' the odds for it.

But will most folk know its a special edition Pulsar or just think its an almera with a Halfords body kit?

Not dissing an Autech, but for the money, couldn't you get a GTI and mod it, would be more fun and what I'd do, I just couldn't spend over 4k on a car over 10 years old, and I agree with the above statement the bodykit is wild!!

no rust and only 42 k on the clock! i couldnt be arsed to order the cams get the zorst flywheel etc, and people can think what they want coz i know its special ;) i was gonna get a itr-dc2 there 7grand and 10 years old?!!

its worth it imo, but thats to the few people that know what it is, finding a GTi with that mileage and no rust would be difficult but not impossible so must be worth considering when it could save you so much money, mines coming up to 12 years old and had some surface rust under the sills and a small bit of bubbling on one front arch when i bought it, no other rust anywhere, and thats one of the very first so later ones in better condition should be out there, just avoid the abused neglected ones.

Its not worth the money; infact the price takes the piss. If you are that desperate about getting an Autech, I would ask a different importer how much they can do you one for.

I wouldn't believe the mileage either unless the dealer has some paperwork to confirm it.

its 4495 now, not 5000, they go for 3999, then id have to import it and mot it bla bla, so 495 for all the hard work, is it really that bad? also your not gonna get privite prices going through a garage! and where can you buy one privite? i cant find any there's only 3 or 4 in the uk? i think........... and where can i get a spelling lesson?

YES the price really is that bad! £4495 is still way over-priced.

so what would you pay? thats the only reason i made this thread so i could get an idea what i should aim for when i go and haggle!!

i would say £3000 would be a fair price to most people, assuming it is in very good condition etc, its never going to happen though unless you get very lucky, maybe another car with a dealer who doesnt have a clue will let one go for that little but not this one.

The thing is what I would pay and what you can haggle them down to are two completely different things. Any greasy used car dealer will still want to make a decent profit.

Autech's are over 10 years old now, which means that the cost to get them OTR in the UK is a lot lower - all that is needed is speedo modification + a foglight, MOT and registering with the DVLA.

Like you said yourself, you have seen them going for £4k. At least ring a couple of importers and ask for a quote for an HN15 2.0 litre Pulsar. If you want to save yourself more money, you can ask for a "landed" price - i.e. you would have to prep and register the car yourself.

If you really want the car, the price will be worth it.
If I mentioned how much I paid for my Gti, people on here would say I was had.
*But* It was still far better value than the other, far more common, alternatives that I was considering...which may also be the case in your situation...

i am likeing your advise its good!! i just cant wait anymore!! i think my car is gonna blow and i dont want to buy a banger while i wait for one to be imported as in the long run this will cost me more but i do see your point!!

its quite normal for these jappy cars to come in with low mileage, if you do get it, ask them do they have a copy of the auction sheet.. would give you a lot of useful information about the car (the grade of the car, if it was crashed before, genuine miles etc etc)

also @ Simcard regarding the n1, its just an sr16ve with more agressive cams and 8 injectors instead of 4, there may be a few other things, but thats the main difference.. *i think*

End of the day, are you getting alot of car for your money? NO. But if you can live with that, get one, they look amazing and very unique and you'll probably have years of trouble free motoring.
