You already said the car is yours, if I was an insurer and your mum phoned up to insure a modded Almera GTi with a 17 year old son as a named driver, it would be setting all the alarm bells off. They'll quite happily take your money though and only query it when you need to claim.

You may be legit but they'll take some persuading in the event of a claim I bet...

OF TOPIC.....
Ive stuck my gf on my insurance as shes 25, and more importantly female, she lowers my quote my £175 she hasnt got a liscence so i lied but..... as she will never drive my car, she wont crash it so does it matter ???

You shouldn't lie about anything to the insurance company as it's only when you need them that you'll find out if they're gonna honour the policy. I would have thought in this era that they will have access to driving licence details on a computer database so will know about all drivers on policies.

Is it worth the risk ?? You might rear end a Merc and be left with a bill for a few grand in repairs plus compensation claims for whiplash if the insurers decide you misrepresented yourself when applying for insurance.

I 'lied' to Norwich Union that my dad was the main driver on my Punto.

It was all in my name, but I was a second driver.

Come the end of the policy, they wouldn't give me my NCB as they said my policy was void, but they happily took all the repayments...

I wouldn't go on someone else's insurance so that I could drive something thats a bit outta my price range - your gonna get shafted sooner of later. If not now, then when you want something faster and need tp insure it yourself. Unless you plan to drive the Almera and live with your parents for the rest of your life...
