He's got coilovers mate.

how much do they cost then?

whats the largest wheel you can fit on the Almera without modding arches?

I had an Astra convertible & someone told me you couldn't fit 19's on it... I proved him wrong... they looked nice!

£755 but you can get them cheaper if you shop around.

fcuk me gentle... HOW MUCH! I don't think so then, I don't like my car enough to spend that sort of dosh on coilovers!

I'll email rare-rims but my past experience with them has led to believe they say yes to anything and everything!
Never heard anyone claim that before  Julian's got literally hundreds of satisfied customers on Honda Revs, has been on there for donkeys years, and 100% knows his stuff.

just got an error message chap, didn't see what you meant with that link!?!

What do you want gold for under the wheel arches?
my thoughts exactly, cant really see my springs unless your looking for them so.... whats the point and well overpriced, gold plated which will rub of pretty quick i shuld imagine

Gold plated springs? On an N16? The word madness comes to mind...

Motorsport World in Wishaw, Scotland ( clicky ) supply the KW Variant 1 Coilovers for £686 inc vat and about £20 or thereabouts for delivery...

If you're really wanting coilovers then one of the traders on here, gary_yuen42, is either currently developing or completing a set of Daiyama Coilovers for the N16 complete with Pillow Top Mount and (optional) in car damper controller thingy...

Coilovers are £545 i think with the damper controller being an extra £195 - but this will only take effect if there are 10 or more N16 owners that want these...

And the chances of that happening is rather slim as i started one ages ago for D2 Sports Coilovers discounted down to £575 inc vat + postage from an outfit called Impulse Performance iirc but no-one put there name down so really it's best to go for one when everyone is else is wanting one then a group buy will really gather steam...

Maybe it didn't help that i (tried) to start the group buy a week before xmas...

205/45/17, PCD-4x114, Offset-35, Bore-66.1,

They fit fine but passenger-side front sticks out a tiny bit too far for my liking - we'll see when I lower it if it's too much, maybe a 38 offset would have been better?

The edge of the tyre is about flush with the outside of the arch, that pic's not brilliant and makes it look worse than it is.

The wheels you link to on that site have the right PCD (probably, I've seen N16 listed as 114, 114.3 and 114.4, just check with seller first) but an offset of 45 so the inside edge may be too close your suspension unless you used spacers and then the outside edge may be outside the arch.

According to the site I use for suggesting wheel sizes 42mm offset is supposed to be the max for an N16.

I heard the N16's offset margin is 35-42mm, so I'm wondering what would be a good setup from what you're saying Wraith? 35 rear and 38 front?

I'll be phoning Rota (rare rims) sometime next week to order up my wheels. Their site lists Grids only as ET40 and ET45, but I'll ask if I can have a different offset depending on what we reckon an N16 would be best with. (they also dont list Grids in all gunmetal, they only have polished lip ones, so hopefully they'll do that too).

p.s. would this slight difference in offset between front and rear have an affect on the handling? Sorry lots of questions but just wanna get this right :) Thanks!

Nissan P1 with steelies standard offset is et 45.

I run et 45 on 7j 16". I've never had an issue.

Different offsets on front to rear - It'd have the same effect as fitting spacers. It would possibly increase the stability and handling of the car if the rears stuck out slightly wider than the front, but probably not by enough to really notice.

That's something I considered - 40-45mm offset at the front and 35-40mm offset at the rear (or something like that).

According to the latest Demon Tweeks catalog TSW are now supplying some wheels as 'staggered' sets with a wider wheel for the rears to give a more aggressive look. Don't think the offset is different but the rears are supplied with wider tyres.

One minor downside is this; it's recommended to replace tyres in pairs with the new pair going on the back and the old rear tyres on the front (or at least have the best two tyres at the rear). This is partly because new tyres grip better and with new ones on the front and old ones on the back you're more likely to lose control of the back end on wet corners, especially if you have nice grippy tyres on the front and so drive a bit closer to the edge than you would on old ones. Also worn tyres are more prone to puncture and it's easier for most drivers to instinctively control a blowout on a front tyre (causes understeer) than a rear tyre (causes oversteer).

So, if you have different front and back tyre sizes you'll be best to replace all four at once even if just one is worn. Not cheap!

lmao yeah, you're just adding weight really!

Thanks Wraith handy to know all that. In which case it's best to find an offset that would fit nicely for both. Maybe the ET40 option could be what I need.
