Hi, I think the car looks great, however wouldn't wheel spacers set it of nicely, as the bodykit is quite wide.
Having the wheels sit out wider would look hot, especially the rear.

Great work on this car by the way.

how did you fix the cv?

Well the shaft had popped out of the outer CV, and almost lost one of the bearings. Now i dont know whether i accidentally knocked it out without realising when fitting the coilovers or whether it popped out due to being lower. I know Rob had some problems so i figured the car being lower was putting more strain on the CV.

Anyway, i managed to get it back in there...and touch wood, seems okay.

Yeah it was the same thing Corbs, luckily when it happened to me i was still on my driveway.

SARD FPR install

This is my latest purchase installed, a Sard adjustable FPR .

The reason i bought it was because the HLM dyno day indicated the motor not running as rich as i'd like. AFR's were hovering in the mid to high 13's, which isnt bad...but at least this way future mods will be supported with enough fuel without needing to change injectors.

I checked the stock FPR fuel pressure with the vac hose off, and got a reading of around 46psi/3.2BAR.

I decided to install the SARD FPR and setup at 49psi/3.4BAR.

Next up will be replacing my Bosch 4.9 LSU wideband sensor, as it hasnt worked since removing from the TSi. Then i can fine tune the FPR if necessary using the wideband AFR display.

This intake mani arrived a good few weeks ago but i still havent fitted it, im tempted to leave it now for the summer and go for stage 2 of the engine build this winter. Plans arent decided but im looking towards a stock 86mm bore with different pistons, a target CR of 14:1, a custom header and this intake manifold. Call it project 220whp.

fuckin hell!! I thought you had finished, didnt realise this was stage 1, thing is going to be a monster.

with a ratio of 14:1 what fuel will that run on? Also at a guess the extra ratio will come from the pistons but wouldnt that bring them closer to the combustion chamber and therefore closer to the valve, just wondering how it would work with big lift cams also

VE pistons (or forged ones of the same design) with valve relief's.

I can run 14:1 on normal super unleaded. A big cam DE will get away with a higher CR than a VE as i wont have to worry about detting on a small cam, when cylinder pressures are at their highest. My cams bleed off loads of cylinder pressure becuase they are always open! ha. Im only running about 175-180psi at 11.2:1CR,

Piston wise, to keep costs reasonable im looking at modifying a set of regular SR16VE pistons with deeper valve reliefs for clearance. If i dropped these in my engine with this cylinder head and 1.1mm HG, i'd be up around 14:1CR.

Unmodified SR16VE pistons in my engine are around 14.5:1CR, but they will collide with the valves, which is why i'll need deeper reliefs.
