Autech Pulsar GTi

I was just wondering what car that engine would have been in, was F2 racing a rally type race or track racing?

EDIT: That link, ^ answers my question.

Cool, thanks for that Hall-eeee.

So its an ex NME F2 Rally cylinder head whose engine produced 225bhp/170ftlb, with 12:1CR.

Its most likely going to be an F2 rally head isnt it, the stamping on it would be the most accurate thing to go by I would say. Unless, the BTCC head was the same!

Isn't N/A tuning a very fickle thing... You can never say for 100pc that something will make a loss or improvement it's gas. I'll be going for M3 throttle bodys and standalone on mine next anyway hopefully see some improvement on that. Although I wouldn't see an issue as to where the car makes the power as long as it's making it, I shift far lower now, less stress on the engine and just as fast. Granted it doesn't sound as epic when not revved like a bike but doesn't bother me.

Keep plodding along anyways man it's an interesting read.

I was told this by touringcarspares.com when I bought it. At the time they also had an 8injector slide throttle intake from the same package but for £1250, so I never bought that. They also had a couple of 94 Primera shells for sale. Touringcarspares.com must have got the job lot from someone. The INTER refers to International Engine Services and from what I can see they only prepped for BTCC. The Janspeed team would be much like the current Silverline team for example, in that they use a car from a manufacturer but theyre not affliated with that manufacturer, so I wouldnt think NME had anything to do with the engine, however the specs were no doubt similar for BTCC and Rallying ?

mmm love this car.. whats next on the cards

I dont really know, theres some maintenance stuff and a few tweaks to be done, but thats pretty boring stuff...

...id love to say a was currently buidling a spare high comp engine up, but im not as i dont have anywhere to store it.

I did (maybe still do) have an option of picking a VE head up, but on its own..gains wise its not worth swapping it onto my current block, i'd need to atleast do some bottom end work at the same time.

So basically im still mulling it over while deciding if i can be bothered...

Winter is a great time to build a spare engine, its not so great for lying on your back in the freezing cold and removing oil pans. :D

So i've been pretty busy lately....

An offer came up that i couldnt refuse, i aquired an SR16VE. Thought it was about time i got in on some VVL action.
So yeah, rather than swapping engines, this is a VE head swap onto my DE block with 16VE pistons.

I drilled and tapped the external oil feed to the gallery in the VE head.

So thats its basically, the motor was built a couple of weeks ago.

.............................................

I finally got around to modifying the Mazworx header too.
Original specs:
1.75" diameter primaries
36" primary length
2.5" Choke
3" Outlet
New modified specs:
1.75" diameter primaries
25" Primary Length
2.1" choke
2.1-3" transition

As it stands now, I've wired up a granatelli window switch and fitted the custom 4-1 Mazworx Header.
After waiting two weeks, Aldon let me down with getting the dastek rev limit module fitted to my ECU, so that meant i was going to be stuck with a 7400 rev limit.

So now instead i'm looking to use the 16VE ECU ( for its higher RPM limit) along with my dastek.

I realise the dastek and 16VE ECU is probably being asked a lot of now for this high comp VE/DE hybrid, but i want get the motor running as cost effectively as possible and didnt want to go down the line of Nistune because i'm still sitting on these roller barrel ITB's..so standalone may be in my future, but is currently out of the question funding wise.

Mapping has been scheduled for Monday 9th July, fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

Oh and i got my WORK rims professionally refurbed, im pleased with how these turned out, now they look like new!
