BTW Ian,
Still haven't seen you registered on trackdayracing forums
We've got a Silverstone GP day on August.

....sorry forgot about that....doing it now....what car you got then?

i was going to go with those...
till i tried sitting in one!!!! You really need to have a small frame to fit into those..

look nice though... i need to re-mount mine (Cobra Imola S seats) as they are rather to high

oh and i still see carpet in your car!!! get it removed lol

yeah they are `snug` im 12 stone with a 32" waist.....but i think you can get a wide fitting version??.....

That carpet must weigh a ton...lol......

yeah im sure you could actualy - but was more impressed with the ones i bought - they are REALLY nice to sit in and hold you well

just need to get some harnasses, remove door cars (rears are easy, but fronts are electric so have to sort out the siwtches somehow so they still operate - dont think any P11 primeras came with front windy ones.

then to remove the dash and gut what i can from it. Main reason for removing it though is there is a leak from somewhere but i cant work out where!!

gona havge some custom braces made up for the rear of the car, and maybe some bars to go accross the middle of the car to help make it a tad stiffer... either that or a roll cage if insurance allows!

the carpet weighs next to nothing really - i was quite suprised when i removed it (that was a task and a half...) but "complets" the look

if you`ve removed the carpet get rid of the sound insulation as well....that must weigh alot more and the insulation behind the dash on the firewall.....have you seen the weight reduction list on SR20forum?.....if not its a good (long!) read.

there is a slight problem... that sound deadening stuff was put on before the car was painted it seems... ive removed a tiny bit to reveal there is no paint under it :( - not sure what to do with it - might leave it for now and do it as a finishing off mod where i can get it sprayed up properly.. but want to get the turbo lump in there so all the little things like this are put on hold

the insulation from behind the dash is coming out as well - as i say there is a leak behind there which i want to solve so gona kill 2 birds with 1 stone..

mine has the panels over the paint.....hot air gun and scraper should do the trick!

Have you got rid of the rear belts and all that speaker surround stuff? That weighs a fair amount. The rear door cards weigh absolutely nothing though.

yeah the rear seats and belts are out ( and the OE front belts )....door cards are still in, no spare wheel, tools or jack.

I meant the bits that hold the speakers in, but i guess those things by themselves they wont weigh much! I like what you've done to your car alot though, I'm aiming for something similar, but obviously I cant tune the engine to the extent that you have.

this is my mates saxo which is fully stripped out got the weight down to just above 700kg

geez that really is stripped - but it does not look messy...

im guessing he has gone to the extream and removed all the un-used wiring as well??

not yet he still wants to do the window motors and stuff like the window wash bottle n pump but he is lucky and has a company van. he is looking at fiberglass bonnet and boot aswell. still got the standard shitron vts engine though.

yeah thats the main issue with me - i use my car to go to and from work so cant have it to long off the road... weekend max... this is why ive only done the easy stuff for now as I dont wana get into a job, getting half way through and the point of no return only to find i need something but cant get it for days

oh and i know it might be a shitron - but i bet that thing flies!!

I remember swapping cars at pod with my mate with a VTS semi stripped )nothing like the above) and i must say for the engin size it kept up with mine quite well and had a nice trq curve - where as mine is dead before 4kRPM and flies... the saxo driver who drove mine described it as turbo lag :D

saxo VTS weighs 935 kgs according to this:

http://nurburgring.org.uk/who/vehicles.php

so he's saved quite alot of weight from stripping stuff out, is there much point unless the engines been tuned as much as Rowdy's has though? (back to Almeras).

there's every point mate. power to weight ratio is much improved and handling with it as you're not trying to lump around another ....what is it... about 36 stone  ... so call it 3 mates in your car !!!

You don't need to tune your car if you can save that much....
