Bucket seats fitted....

depends how far you take it, but if you just remove things, then its easy enough to put things back in - problem is just space in your house/garage/shed lol

there is a slight problem... that sound deadening stuff was put on before the car was painted it seems... ive removed a tiny bit to reveal there is no paint under it ..

mine has the panels over the paint.....hot air gun and scraper should do the trick!

splank im guessing your car was made at sunderland, they put the sound deadening on before painting, since the gti's are made in japan im guessing they do it differently over there, cant see why they would do it differently on different models??

btw looking good rowdy, i used to have my micra stripped with buckets but dont fancy it again, becomes a tad noisy with everything out, especially for an everyday car.

lol yeah fair point! ultimatley id love to get rid of everything incl. sun roof and glass windows (replace with fibreglass) etc but for now on my more or less standard GTi removing stuff which can easily be put back in (rear seats, parcel shelf etc) would save enough weight to make a difference? or would i just end up looking like a tool who thinks he's in a stipped out race car, when actually he's in a family hatchback with no rear seats

geez that really is stripped - but it does not look messy...

im guessing he has gone to the extream and removed all the un-used wiring as well??

citreons are suprislying well organised underneath the carpet, and seem to use less panels all welded together compared to a nissan, same with the corrigated iron effect, dont seem to use that much either, but thats also where cars strength comes into it, more little panels overlapped and welded with rippples in will be stronger than one sheet

I took out seats, spare wheel, parcel shelf, and all the rear trim incl rear seatbelts.. i then put the rear door cards and rear speaker holders back in cos they dont weigh very much at all... less than 2Kg id guess, and i could tell the difference. The heaviest things are the rear seats and spare wheel.

Looking good rowdy-GTi :)
