Darrens N16

I re uploaded them as I don't think Banzai will see them.
well I think its time to let all of you guys know. I had a car accident on Sunday. The car is beyond repair :-(

Some one tried to turn right and never knew I was there and turned straight into me. I am upset about this as I know insurance will give me next to nothing for it but I will try my best to get as much money for it as to me this car is priceless. The car owes me a lot of money but money is not everything. After owning this car for the best part of 7 years the fun I have had in this car I don't think I can get from another car. As every one knows a lot of hours has been spent on this car and was truely my pride and joy.

I have a few injuries but the main thing is im alive. The people that went into me are also a live. im not sure how well they are as I was rushed off to hospital.

I will be removing pictures within 12 hours as the car will be features in Banzai hopefully. I am not sure to let them know or not as I want this to be featured to promote the club.

Ah Darren...

Feel absolutely gutted for you...
Had no idea it was that bad...

That's gut wrenching...

I'm glad your still in one piece... harnesses to the rescue...

holy shit man u sure it was a focus that hit u and not a truck, what speed did they hit u at
I was traveling under 30mph and the car that turned right was doing about 10mph or 20mph at most so the impact was 40-45mph. still though its scary

That's an awful lot of damage for a relatively low speed impact

Unfortunately Daz, it's extremely unusual to get back the money that you've spent modding a car - either when selling or after an accident. I'd spent a fortune on mine & realised the only way to get even some of that outlay back, was to put the car back to standard & sell the mods separately. Sad, but true.

no the impact speed was under 30mph, newtons 3rd law ;)

I think in the case of a pay out of only the value of the car sans mods, you should be allowed to take all your mods off the car at no cost, seeing as they are technically not physically covered, only their risk by being added to the car is added to the premium.

Having just seen the pictures I feel sick for you Darren, but ultimately glad you walked away with only minor injuries. Seeing things like this should make folks appreciate how much destructive damage can be caused by those little boxes we drive around in everyday. Just a shame so many have no clue and don't give a damn as they drive like morons!

fuck just read this.. gutted for you dude.. hope you get a decent insurance payout and are back up and running in no time..

shame about the car, at least you're fine mate, from the looks that could ended even in a way more tragic way. Try thinking positive, if you ever wanted project to go the other way, that's your chance, I'll bet you'll gonna build even better car.

holy shit, genuine drop jaw moment there, I cant believe teh damage, certainly makes you think about things.

such a sham to see the car in that state, i know youve spent years getting it like that.

Just hope you dont have any bad injuries that are long lasting

Thanks to everyone. I am well and alive but not in the best state. I got a few cuts, 3 on the face and about 5 on my right arm/hand and muscle pains. I should be getting the car back. I will salvage as much stuff off it as I can. If the coilover's are alright then I will pick up a cheap shell and build myself a track car.

if it turns out well
phase 1 shell or any rolling shell (pov spec if possibile ABS but no passenger side airbag)
Phase 2 rear bumper with rear splitter as it should be ok
Phase 2 rear lights as they will be reuseable
phase 2 head lights (on the cheap again)
RGM side skirts (if they are still reuseable)
buy a phase 2 front bumper and fit front splitter (botch repair on the front splitter as its going to be a track car)
2lt water bottle for jet washer fluid (already have this)
replace horn with a better one as the OEM N16 one is gay lol
remove rear wiper
remove roof aerial
remove Nissan badge on front and smooth off but I won't have the modified bonnet
remove AC if it has it
Coilovers
280mm front brake disc conversion (if it requires a upgrade)
280mm rear brake upgrade
2.5" exhaust sytem if its reuseable
apexi air filter with enclosure built to keep the cold air going into engine)
SR20DE (same setup in my current car)
strip the life out of it. no interior panels or anything or roof lining or any sound deadening.
Corberu seats (what I currently have in the almera) I guess no one wants them
sabelt 3 point harness
Acrylic windows (side windows and rear windows keep)
Strip all electrical wires out for AUX stuff
maybe keep the OEM radio (depends how I feel)
maybe relocate battery to back of passenger side seat or move to the boot (depends how bothered I am)
Electric window's motors, electric side mirrors, interior lamps etc etc wiring. (pretty much only ABS working, engine and blowers and lights working Still able to pass a MOT)(I might keep electric windows)
Volks alloy wheels (whats on the car currently)
DIY matte black paintjob
Ultra racing front lower arm brace
Ultra racing rear anti roll bar
Ultra racing front strut brace
Ultra racing room bar
roll cage if I can get one built up for cheap

power to weight should be fun /\

your car was one of the most beautiful almera
I have shocked!!!!!
:'(

I quess im very lucky.
Ncap test of front impact of 64km/40mph
scary because it deforms quite bad and yet it got a 4* rating.

gutted for ya daz & shocked at the damage from the relatively low speed impact !! glad youre ok .............& looking forward to seeing ya new build in progress

Jesus, don't know how I missed this mate. really sorry to see the state of your car but have to see it this way; the more it crumpled the less you did.

Even with like-for-like insurance and all mods costed and declared you never get back what you put in money-wise and no insurance covers the blood, sweat, tears and time invested.

Not so sure the damage pics would put any halfway decent mag off running an article TBH, could easily see them using it as an end piece to the article as a cautionary tale to remind people the roads can be more treacherous than the track.

Glad to hear you've got future plans. already Can't keep a good man down.

Got to ask.. Did you get that N15 in the engine bay shot deliberately? Would like to think that even at such a bad time you couldn't resist getting another 'mera in shot :)

All the best for your recovery and can't wait to see your next build.
