My N15 5-door GTi Build...

What is the current situation, how far along the build are you?. I know its VE/ITB build but as for the rest I don't know.. what other things you changed en-route.

Not putting much up online about it cos of how things have been recently with cars being stolen etc... I see it as an advertisement for thieves.
It's a full build though... Every aspect covered

A couple updates since the forum is back online!
Been thinking of ways to lose more weight from the shell since the last bout of stripping, and came up with a few ideas:
Sunroof was always gonna be removed, was just thinking of an effective way of doing it, this has done the job perfectly, weighs literally nothing being 1mm Aluminium, and it doesnt leak as it's overlapped 1" all the way round, wohooooo!! Will be getting it vinyl wrapped black.

Next up was to get rid of my fat-ass battery and battery tray, boom! New Odyssey y0

I also removed some more stuff, including stereo and 2x speakers as this is a weekend/track car only now.
When I test drove the car it felt fucking lively! :)

I was thinking, since I last ran on the drag strip and got a 14.2s run, I must have lost nearly 100kg, fitted lighter wheels, better tyres, and fixed a misfire that was down to dodgily gapped and loose spark plugs. Must be a 13s car now?!?

Anyway, I went to round 2 of JPOC RACEWARS, and whipped the competition once again, only being beaten by a ~240hp B20 CRX which was well expected. Here's a few snaps I liked:

I am still loving the N15, so much so that my BMW is going up for sale, and I'm gonna stop sliding about and having fun and concentrate on racing the N15 and enjoying it !!
(however fun the BMW is !!! http://www.facebook.com/v/10151063156082789 )

The new power plant will be being fitted over winter, after it's been ran and mapped on an engine dyno! Can't wait!

Nice to be back on the proper forum!!

Joe

Love it Joe :) With regards to the Weight Saving.... how about polycarbonate windows as its a weekend/track car? or is it not garaged all the time?

They are definitely something I've thought about, although since recently fitting them to a mate's car, I don't think I could put up with how easily they scratch/swirl! Might do the back 3 in the future, but I've got some fibreglass panels to go on next so there's still more weight to lose.
I'm going in hard as per, and aiming for below 900kg !!

This thing was already nuts, can't imagine what it's going to be like with much less weight and shit loads of powerz.

Whats the N15 GTI weight standard? and the SRI 5door?

It does sound strange, but what about if you were to clear laquer the poly windows with a few coats, that way you would have a barrier to esentially polish against, protecting them and resisting against scratching?

That Makrolon stuff is hardened and coated Chunk.

I reckon a clear coat might work though, thats if it doesn't react with the polycarb.

Yes makralon is ok, but it still scratches, we use it at work alot and it does give a dull look over time and it does seem to hold onto dirt quite well to :/
