But you could always get the ECU remapped ;), I've got a 2001 Sport+ TDDI and its putting out more than the standard BHP & its fairly rapid, previous owner got it remapped....
 
Very true. Stick an IC on and do the remap and you'll see another 30bhp and 30lbft easy.
 
i'm gunna put a bigger turbo on and intercooler and straight through system eventually. oh and chipped or remapped. i'm waiting for them to get back to me to go down and buy it. :-D
 
Bigger or different turbo will mean you need a remap. Remap is better anyway. If you got the Di engine then it will be a Bosch EDC15C2 ECU which can be remapped easily.
 
it will still run but just not aswell if i put a bigger turbo on wont it? will it be hard to put a intercooler on if it weren't made to have one on? what roughly will the stock engine safely be able to run???
 
right a small update on the car. i bought some wind deflectors (team heko) and some new wheels (team dynamics motorsports in gold) i know they wheels don't sound very nice but i personally think they suit the car. but it's all down to personal preferance and i think there gunna be like marmite. you love them or you hate them! any way here's a pic of it. manky like but i'll try get some better pics at the weekend.

oh i forgot and i'v just been getting some new stickers for the side windows also. the same as i had on but in gold instead of chrome.
 
I like the design but like you say, the colour is a bit marmite :lol: I really think you need clear side repeaters though now as the gold clashes with the amber.

Re the intercooler, I'm sorting an upgrade for mine at the moment and will post what was needed in the 'DCi Tuning' thread. I'm fairly sure it will fit yours the same was as it will fit mine, but if you get me some pics of the engine bay looking down on the turbo, and a pic of the front of the car with the bumper and slam bar removed I can judge from them :)
 
i'm gunna put some dark tinted ones on edk. i'v got some smaller escort ones there to try. they were only £5 for the 2. if no good i'll stick them on ebay or summit. i'v decided not to bother with a engine swap now. couldn't be arsed wit the hassle. lol. i'm just gunna keep the 1.5 lump and i'v ordered a performance 4-2-1 manifold a week and a bit ago so i'm just waiting for that to get delivered then i'm getting it booked in for the rest of the system. it's gunna work out not much over £500 for the whole lot bought and fitted!
 
That's a prety good price :) Would be interesting to see what gains that gives the ole 1.5. Rolling road it before and after. You'll regret it if you don't! (i wish I had rolling roaded mine when it was standard).
 
I'm not sure if that particular pic flatters your car mate, could you take another one in different light or a diff location ? That might bring it out in a better light ? :) As for the performance header, I'm interested in one myself. It'll be interesting to see what you think of it :cool:
 
i think i might just rr before and after edk. knowing my luck i'll loose power! haha. yer mick we'll meet up agin. and yer i'll get some more photo's too paul. just it was getting dark so it was a rush job. i'll try get some diff pics the mora or fri. yer i'm coming to the whitby meet still so i'll get someone to get me some good pics then. well if no one minds that is. my camera aint out flash or i'd try get some cool photo's like you guy's do. oh i'll try get my cousin to get some actually cos he has a sooper dooper camera. lol. also i have my new stickers on the car which are gold to match the wheels so that they contrast a bit.
