Not Neccesarily 2 types of boot , but 2 ways of getting the roof off.

The Manual , has 3 clips where you take em off & slide the Roof into a compartment on the underside of the boot lid which is lifted on hingers and hydraulic lifters.

The other (like the one in that ebay sale, which isnt Hydraulic by the way) is the electric aka "Transtop" roof which well when you see it looks like something out off Transformers, but really is quite a bling addition to the car & gets plenty of attention. Breaks easily & often though if its not looked after

Broke mine already & fixed it by meself , its not mind boggling stuff but takes a fair whack of research & reading to do.

I should be gettin the car back out of storage 2morro, if its sunny i'll try get a video of the roof in action.

I wouldnt buy that car though, the SOHC models really aint that good & are alot harder to get parts for, while the DOHC VTEC's being B series engines have come in almost all of Hondas Pre 2000 Sports lineup so parts are in the plenty. (Civic Type R, VTi, Integra Type R)

Has anyone got a Video camera thats coming to the Rolling Road on Saturday ?, my cam can only support 20secs of video

lol the delsols sound better and better, just joined delsoluk.com in hopes to get a cheap one pretty soon lol, i want one very bad:D

That Civic Del sol looks nice but i am not a big fan of them

Not alot of people are, I guess thats what made me go for one (or maybe that Porn bird @ Arnie driving one lol), its something different than the usual for a 19year old , like another Hatchback or something. Get asked all the time "What is it" lol

-edit-

The flushboot plate ur on about Lance, they come premade & ready to fit from plenty of places.

has quite a few bodykits for them aswell. The Buddy Club (BC) or Mugen (replica) kits being the most popular.

Del Sol UK aint bad either, plenty of helpful people on there & one turbo guru under the name "saxman"

To be honest mate, id buy an import if anything. The insurance is hardly any different & considering the production was stopped in 1997, theres not alot of young UK ones about anymore. Might cost a bit more, but from Japan these cars come spotless. Rarely find a 13 year old Car with a Heatshield in that condition lol

how much are we talking about insurance wise for being an import??? take it that the import esi would be cheaper to buy and insure than a uk vti or sir???

SiR is Jap only

Now in theory , the ESi of Jap VXi should be cheaper , being 125bhp right ?, well For unforseen reasons (not just 1 insurer, elephant , bell direct , tesco, norwich union ... it goes on) the VTi & SiR work out cheaper than the ESi even though there alot quicker & 160-170bhp. Dunno if this is because of 4 Disc Brakes & ABS or not but either way there alot cheaper & I mean about £600 cheaper lol

I wasnt gonna argue and ask why its cheaper lol , I wouldnt suggest you do either, Just take the quote & smile.

Only 441 UK VTi's were made with the electric roof so there fairly rare. Most SiR's have electric roof's so are a good target to import. Plus if your lucky, you'll get a few extras from japan, like the LSD , Traction control , Yaw control & Uprated sound system (one clever ass Tape player, which ive also broke lol)

One thing I still aint understood is that on my Door Plate (The Tag with tyre pressures) its got aload of Jap writing , with the following in brackets in the middle of it all.

"(LSD) (TCS) (4WD)"

God only knows....

so what model you got gynx? and how much should i pay realistically??? might even consider getting a damaged one and repairing it...

I went for the SiR with all the Extra goodies lol , couldnt help myself. (LSD,TCS,YCS,4 Discs,ABS,Sound system, electric roof & 11:1 compression giving an extra 8 Brake, although thats back fired on me since im goin turbo)

It took 6 months to find a one good enough , have it shipped over and even then , it was the 1 colour I said I didnt want (I said id have any colour , except red) , Red !.

But forgetting that, for £3500 a 13 year old car with 44,000 miles on it , Not single spec of rust & every add-on under the sun, Im over the moon with it. The Paint work was immaculate , even the Stock 15" Alloys came with Yokohama Prada tyres on em lol :D

To be honest , for a UK one (cant see any low miles UK ones turning up and if they do , chances are theres gonna be rust after 13 years) id say £2000-3500 depending on condition , miles and extras (only extra in the UK being the electric roof).

For a Jap import , £3500 (which was a favour price really) to Around the £7000 mark for a minter with under 15k on it.

forgot to add , its got Air conditioning n all aswell as 3 electric windows (the one at the back) lol

www.vine-place.co.uk

Stock List > Honda > CRX

theyve got 2 on there , both nice cars, especially the Silver one. Dont be scared of by high mileage though, these Hondas if looked after last forever. There was a Scanned US version of an MOT (dunno the name of them) of an Accord thats traveld more than 1,000,000 Documented Kilometers lol , about 550,000 mile without any record of an engine rebuild or serious fault

Although , if you buy an accident damage , alot of the parts on these are rare as rocking horse shite. The Transtop parts are always in demand & expensive, wings etc all easily enough to get. a P28 or P72 ECU if needed are rare aswell.

One good thing about these Honda's though , weve got access to Uberdata, which is very similar to the mucho expensive Hondata S200 Stand Alone engine managment. The best bit being that Uberdata is free lol , although you do need to solder £5 of parts onto ur ECU to upload .bin files

there nice but out of my price range unfortunatley... id be looking to pay about £2700ish at most... hence why i might try and get a spare and repair one for sale...
you think anyone would wanna swap for the mera lol;)

lol can always try mate, ive ended up keeping the Almera if I ever need a 4 seater
