Just to show you how the earth strap to the chassis and gearbox can break. Mine was nearly completely gone. I've replaced it with the welded one I had fixed from my grey car, and cleaned up the contacts.
Always a gd thing to wrap any exposed bits with electrical tape. Had an AA guy lecture me about this a few weeks ago when my battery died on me and he saw exposed wires.
Yeah and tbh I'm glad I've waited until now (until the drivers side driveshaft was nearing done) because I've been able to keep all the parts inside and dry.
