N16 Pulsar Sedan front grill

the thing is that it would probably work out cheaper to import from JP or Oz!

I highly doubt it. Well definately not from Australia. (The N16 Pulsar sedans along with all its parts were produced in Japan). All our parts here are imported from either the UK(Hatch) or Japan(Sedan).

The cheapest I could price a bonnet(non genuine) for was $150aud(roughly 90quid) and that was a while ago when Ed was looking at it. Finding someone down here that wants to send an item like a bonnet to the uk isnt easy, or they want a small fortune to do it.

There are also part numbers for the associated bonnet rubbers too, thats if you wanted genuine ones. but in all honesty, the easiest option would be to just use your existing ones and modify it if required.

I honestly think for a part like a bonnet 330quid isnt too bad. I know a genuine bonnet down here would be around the $400-$500 mark.

Dave.

And for it being a 2day delivery, well it could just mean someone has previously ordered in one of these somewhere in the UK and there is a bonnet in stock in the country somewhere.

It could have been ordered as an incorrect order or something.

well i'm shipping an engine/gearbox from oz to the UK for under £300 and didn't you just post that you bought your genuine nissan bonnet for $50?

I did pick one up for $50aud. However it was extremely lucky. I bought it second hand, but its never been fitted to a car. The bloke who was selling it, just wanted it out of the garage. I got lucky with that.

Yeah it wont, i went down that route looking to import mine and best quote I got was £350 to ship a bonnet by sea. Then there's buying the bonnet in OZ in the first place and being able to get someone there to help ship it. I found most parts companies unwilling to help. That's why I was so lucky with my bonnet!

Theres about 25 times more n16 sedans here than hatches same as n15s nearly all irish domestic sales were 1.5 sedans bonnets are of euro variety though

Yeah euro sedans use the same front end as euro hatches unfortunately. Asia/Pacific sedans that were made in japan however have the nicer look.

A G10 Bluebird Sylphy. N16 Sentra in Malaysia and N16 Pulsar in Aus are similar.

well i may just see about getting a couple of second hand bonnets thrown onto the pallet with the vvl, don't think it would affect the shiping that much but i'll see

my mistake on the new bonnet extreme, i thought you had purchased it new from nissan for that price, but you can get a brand new euro style bonnet in primer for under £100 so £300+ for a nissan asia/pacific version is rape, unless that's painted.

I'm not sure you're up to date with current prices. I fitted a headlamp to a peugeot the other week and it came to £854.00 with the bulbs. £300 for a bonnet is the going rate for a geniune part and thats not allowing carriage for the import. You can buy a set of screwdrivers for a pound but they won't all be working after a month. I'm sure if you can get a couiple of bonnets added to your order you'll shift them quickly on here so long as they're not damaged etc. Good luck with that.

do you work in a stealership as it sounds like it? as i'm quite sure you could have got a headlamp from a breakers and fitted it for about a quarter of that price! just because stealerships charge that amount doesn't mean it's not rape!

and i've been putting pattern parts on cars since i was 16, the n/s front wing on my mk1 mexico (in 1994 i got the last proper ford mexico wing shipped over from a dealership for the o/s so had to use a pattern for the n/s) was a pattern part and it's still in as good shape as the proper ford item that it was fitted with at the same time.

your correct about tools, but that analogy doesn't transfer to everything in life ;)

I work at a bodyshop linked to two dealerships. Pattern parts and second hand parts do have their place in repairs especially when it's your own car. If I crashed my car I would try and source as much as I could second hand but the fact is that these parts are not readily available second hand and certainly not as pattern parts. All we're trying to do is supply people with the information they need to modify/ improve their car. The price for a new bonnet delivered, undamaged ,to your local Nissan dealership is very reasonable. Unless you happen to be in a round the world yachting trip it's the cheapest and most risk-free option.

sure if i do it, but i'm not sure of the actual costs per bonnet, of even if they will come over undamaged as they will only be on a pallet along with my engine/gearbox. plus i don't think i'll be risking my own cash just to have people not taking them due to being slightly dented or scratched when they arrive so i'd have to set out some pre purchase agreement and payment

^I think that's fair. Shipping damage is kind of inevitable with large body parts anyway and would be easy to sort out once you've got it anyway. Mine has damage but only minor and when it comes to a respray of the bonnet it'll be an easy fix.

ok coming back to this i have decided against shipping these in as justin can't find any second hand ones and purchasing a pattern part in NZ is over £200, secondly they can't go on the pallet with the engine and box so the shipping costs was going to be a lot higher. me i'm going down the panelbeater route, once i can get a proper pic of the bonnet from above that is, hint hint ;) or hopefully they will be able to work it out when the grill arrives :)

I'm pretty sure it's just filling in the standard grille cut outs and away you go. Like you say once you have the grille on you can make it to fit the bumper.

Go off the girlle shape when it comes, you'll never get the right measurements from a photo.

FYI the company that I bought my bonnet from was called Crash Repair Parts and they import a lot of stuff so I'd imagine shipping it cheap and they'll just throw it in a crate.
