N16 SR20DE

I did have a little play with teh chain and it seems quite well tensioned so it'll be reet. Ill just turn the radio up if it rattles...

Perhaps newer RR SR's didnt have them as they introduced the newer tensioner, but then the new tensioner was brought out when they found 144s suffering from chain rattle, which would have been after GTI's finished production...weird! Nissan parts bin yo!

Car is as the last picture at the moment. Engine was fitted up and the driver side engine mount aligned. I then removed the engine to weld in the mount and paint the bay, only to run out of welding wire after 1cm of weld :( Tried the local tool shop, 3 motorfactors and an engineering firm to try and get hold of some gasless mig wire with no avail. So it will now be waiting 'til next weekend. Which only leaves me 4 days from getting it done to doing a 700mile trip to Blackpool!!

All the wiring is done, bar the ECU coolant temp sensor (to be connected when the engine is in place) and the blower/rear demist load as I couldn't find that bit of paper. But the load senses can be done whenever, as they aren't needed to get the engine running.

Hopefully next weekend will see it running, bar anymore fuck ups!!

Legend!

Could you not put it in under and connect it up and start it up for a sec just to see if it runs as planned and NATS don't arse it up and then next weekend all you'll have to do is weld in the mount and fit the engine?

Yeah all right you weirdo, I get the point

I could do, but im now without a car and 5 miles from thr unit (I had to walk/run home at 1am saturday morning as I didn't realise the time and had missed the last bus!).

TBH I'm struggling to see how it wouldn't start. The only thing different with running the NATS in teh N16 is I haven't got it connected up to the central locking ECU. But in a GTi the car will still run with the C/L ECU unplugged so they must just be sense feeds. But famous last words and all haha! I'll probably be getting the train to Blackpool knowing my luck!

Yeah Liam, I was gonna say the same. Just plug fuel lines in, and if all wires are connected in, should fire up :)

Oh make sure ecu is plugged in tho yeah? :p

Well done mate. great progress. also you don't need the load sensing wire. I never wired my one up (as I could not find it on the P10 eGT wiring diagram)
