Chains holding engine attached to roof/ lighting? As in, can't see engine crane, or is it to the side?

P.s nice going btw, you seem quite knowledgeable on the engine mechanical side of things.

Yeah its a chain hoist over the roof beams.

Not so much knowledge, just basic skills and some determination.

Yeah it'll be video'd mate! And followed shortly by some limiter vids :D Then probably a phone call to The AA!!

As per WAMT, ive got a flashing MIL. I've checked and re checked the wiring looms/diagrams ect with no joy. The only hope I have at the moment is that the IGN live for the NATS isnt there (will check in the week).

Also need N16 Di 5 Speed gear selectors as the GTi ones are too short (should've listened to Phil ) and need to inspect why the fuel pump isn't working aswell as cobble something together on the throttle cable side of things, QG is too long and the SR one doesn't bolt straight in.

As a result of the above problems ill be going to Blackpool on the train as its not worth risking not getting the parts in time ect.

nice work again! but shit bud, it must be driving you nuts to be so close and getting stopped in your tracks.

how short are the selectors? as remember I still needed to slot the mounting bracket holes on the di shifters to make them work

also drivers side bracket looks to be too far into the bay, mine only overhangs the chassis leg by about 2mm and it sits right.

for the throttle cable check my build thread and you'll find pics of how I modded the pedal stay end of the n16 one to use the SR cable that makes it a bolt in affair

here u go this is how u fix your throttle cable problems

i'd had enough of wiring for a while so i'd been avoiding starting the wiring on the VE loom and as well as working on some of nistros stuff i done some other things on the N16, like instead of using the N16 throttle cable which 'just' worked, we made up a hybrid of an N15 and N16 throttle cable that works perfectly and has the pedal stay in the right spot

n16 cable on the bottom with n16 bracket on the left, and the n15 cable with the n16 bracket plate

Cheers for that willie, saved me looking

Phil, the engine sits fine left to right, its just the bracket it a couple of mm's too close to the front of the car, causing the engine to be at a very slight angle and making it a little bit harder to get the front/rear mounts lined up. I have slotted the GTi selectors, but they still fall about 20mm short (im really hoping the not quite straight bracket isn't going to make this a real pain in the ass). Yeah it sucks as I now have to get teh bloody train. Fucking hate public transport.

arrgghh we've both been talking about you today and were looking forward to seeing the startup vid, hopefully tommorow eh, then its just the shifters you need to fit :thumb:
