Spacing it away will make it worse...

Whu? ^

Right then, first thing on todays agenda was to try and sort out the clutch. The bite point was right at the floor, so I need to extend the rod coming out of the slave cylinder. I was thinking last night about how to and I came up with this...

1.2mm Steel apprx 8mm wide...

Cut in half and bent into 2 U shapes, then slotted over each other...

Trial fitted...

Bite was still a little low (which I expected as Phil had said it needed 2mm extension), so I added some weld to the end...

And welded together...

Now onto the radiator...

I simply cut 3 sides off of a piece of 1" steel box, screwed it to the slam panel and drilled a hole on the bottom for the rad to sit in. Simple but it works.

I also tidied up the wiring, the GTi ECU is pysically the same size as the QG one, so it almost fitted in the bracket. Needed a little bending but it went in there. All bolted back in behind the glovebox. I just need to find a piece of carpet to cover up the top of the footwell, as the extra wiring is hanging down.

Finally was to sort the exhaust. The problem being it was blowing like a thai ladyboy at the mid section. I got underneath and noticed it wasnt sat right, so unbolted it and pushed it up.... doh. Was hitting the gear linkages, I cant get it sat right, so it doesnt seal at the bottom of the flange. I couldnt be arsed to remove, bend and extend the linkages, so I just bodged the exhaust with 3 gaskets and its sealed up alot better. Still blowing tho. Its not the end of the world as I need to modify the catback to accept an N15 cat before the MOT in march, so ill sort it whenever.

Drove it home, fairly hard. I love SR20 pull after 4k. Missed it sooo much!

The clutch is still giving problems tho. Although the bite point is good, after a few uses of the pedal, the bite point moves lower down and it doesnt select gear. Air in the system? Ill try bleeding it again in the week when I have some help, had to bleed it last night by, opening the nipple, jamming a block of wood on the pedal, closing the nipple. Then repeating.

But overall a very happy bunny!

Craig, no I didnt use a deNATS ecu.

I did deNATS one, plugged it in and the MIL didnt flash. But whilst I was on the phone it stated flashing so I didnt even bother trying to start it.

I plugged in another ECU set and away it went :) *after replacing the fuel pump relay!

congrats again bud, as i said yesterday a well deserved result after being the first in the UK to have an SR N16, at least you know this time its been done right :shades:

Great progress and glad to hear she's up and running after all your hard work. Hope you get the issue sorted soon enough.
