It will happen, when will be a different story.

Phil, Ive only quickly mocked up a cardboard enclosure. Im not making a full box, just trying to section it off from the worst of the hot air. Im looking into CAI but dont really want to lose a fog and theres no way im having it lower down than that. Judging by the state of the engine bay after one drive in quite bad rain im actually considering a standard airbox for winter. Only put the Dale intake on for japfest really.

yeah i gathered that bud, it's what we have planned for nistro's as his battery is going in the boot too. i think with it enclosed off like that it will get good cold air from under/behind the headlight and of course it will pull air up through the hole down into the inner wing where my cai goes, and it's bound to be better that way intake temp wise than without any protection from the engine bay at all :)

jfyi i have my cai pulling air from behind the bumper by being fixed into the arch liner, that way i don't give up on a fog and it's very unlikely water will get up there :)

His cold air feed was mounted in the fog light hole. On a day where a boat would have been more appropriate, his air filter got waterlogged and starved the engine of air causing the car to conk out :(

Aye - pretty much. It certainly confused the MAF ! It ran brilliantly in the dry, but the low down intake was too tempting for the rain to force it's way in - lesson learned

Another little update. A few jobs ive been meaning to do for a while too.

Parts ect to be fitted, decat didnt arrive so that will wait til wednesday afternoon!

First on the list was to replace the filter element. I know you can clean them but due to the colour of this one I decided to get a new one. They're both meant to be the same colour :S

After mocking up last week it was time to make the filter enclosure.

Both parts made and painted, have left the paint to dry overnight ready for fitting tomorrow.

Fitted.

Both fitted without the use of fire or a press y0!

Also decided it was time to make some proper radiator brackets and add a bonnet stay clip thingy.

I also fitted front brake shims. The kit came with 3 shims for each pad but only managed to get 1 in on each. Brake pedal travel has been reduced nicely.

Also had to weld up a couple of blow holes on the downpipe where a lambda boss had been added. Sealed up lovely and its seems to have livened up the exhaust tone too.

Engine mounts are brilliant, I dont know why I've left it this long. Drag launches are fun now and wheel hop has been minimised.

Thats it for now. More updates to come soon.

I imported it :)

Just wondering about the mount, strange it bolts right up to the SR, or did it need some fettling

So todays jobs were to make a rear strut brace, paint the slam panel, fit filter enclosure and tint front fogs. Here goes;

Started with this.

Fogs look mega dark, think I did 1 too many coats.

I was tinting my fogs too lol. Great minds think alike except mine haven't come out as dark as I wanted :(

Car looks evil mate loving the work although you either need to go lower or get some bigger wheels to finish off what is an awesome car (as well as the MS Design rear splitter too lol)

The rear is low enough now, just needs some spacers and to match up the front height. Job for another time tho :) Rear splitter can wait now, go over show for the time being.
