N16 SR20DE

Right then, I found the NATS dongle... jeez Nissan didnt want that thing removed did they

Swapped em over, tried to start it.... nothing :( cranked for a few seconds and still nothing. Ign on and off a few times, tried again and it fired into life! Woop! So let it run, topped up coolant ect. Then dropped the oil and filled it up with Millers CFS 5w40, changed the filter and the spark plugs.

Then onto sorting out the brakes, made up the replacement copper pipe, worked first time!! Doesnt leak either, i was amazed! Ha. So fitted the new flexis, topped up the fluid and waited for my mate to turn up so i could bleed them.

In the meantime i re-assembled the dash, fitted the catback, adjusted the front bumper bar, undersealed the xmember and bits of the front end, fitted the headlights and bumper and with a little more adjustment ive got the ph2 lights sitting properly!

Mate arrived, bled the clutch, no problems. Moved onto the brakes, 1st side went fine, but the bleed nipple on the other side was fubbard, but managed to get it undone, bleed ok so it seemed.... Tightened up the hub nuts, put the wheels back on, took it off the axle stands, fired it up to take it for a test drive but noticed there was alot of steam... Rad cap is leaking :( But ive got a spare on to go on anyway... Reversed out the garage to find theres barely any brakes!?! But must have bled 500ml of fluid thru each side so who knows? Will i need to bleed the rears? But ill probs just take in the garage and ask if i can use the pressure bleeder :)

The new wishbones and DIY engine mounts have really transformed how the car drives... gear selection and acceleration is sooooo smooth and cornering feels more planted!

wow nice one liam haqsnt taken you long at all, even by yourself get some pictures up fella, and i cant wait to see this again in person :)

Sounds like a great job was done there bud and soon to be exactly where you want it to be. The wheels would set the car off a treat as well if you can get the right combo. Were you not tempted to clean up the 1.8 lump prior to fitting as everything else looks so clean??? And I want that front bumper you've got its the best combo I've seen with that P1 bumper ;)

Nice one Liam mate, if you let the level get too low in the reservoir then you may have allowed some air Into the system, apart from that I see no reason for no brakes? Hopefully bleeding the rears does the trick and your set. Like wolve says get some pictures up mate :)

Liam my old fruit. When i did the caliper on my n16 i made sure i bled plenty of fluid through, no bubbles etc. Started her up and the pedal went to the floor. I drove it back and forth a few times trying to brake as normal and it firmed up to normal feel. Im not sure why it worked but it did. A friend said later he's had this a few times on other cars. Worth a squirt before you start pulling it apart again matey.

Cheers guys! About the brakes, yeah the master cylinder did empty out... So ill get all 4 re-bled and we'll go from there! Ive just come back from unit after giving it a clean, once it gets a bit darker ill arm myself with the camera and tripod and go take some piccies!

Oh... And dodgy speedo... Think its a bad connection somewhere so ill just run new wires from the sensor to the speedo :)

I did intend on cleaning the block/box but i couldnt be bothered  The QG makes the engine bay so messy with all its sensors and wiring and crap so i didnt think it was worth doing as it'd still look shite under there! Yeah i do actually want the XXRs but ive got other things to buy first :)

You've been a busy boy mate, great work. Awesome that there's only a few niggles too :).

Brakes, and bleeding, bane of my life!
