does it have different cam gears to other SR20's, the cam timing might be slightly different, moving the power band further up the rev range

Honestly not sure if the gears are different.

It's probably due to the bigger cams and more compression, mine makes peak power @6600rpm.

on my oe cams peak bhp was reached at 7,080rpm. now with the tomei cams its 6,150rpm ish odd i know.
