So the car has been back on the road a few weeks now, got it back just in time for a local show. 'Rising Sun Car Show', Lincoln. So went along with a few locals. The weekend was a beauty, not a cloud in the sky all weekend! So here are a few snaps:

Looking in the boot around the rear arch area, I discovered some surface rust.... So I gave it a little scrape with a screwdriver and the screw driver went straight through! :( So it's suffering from the common rust issue now!

As a tempory fix, I plugged the hole with chemical metal... I need to get it chopped out and welded properly... So as there is a little bit of bubbling on the outer of the rear passenger arch, I was thinking about hitting the whole lot in one go - I think it is worth doing as the rest of the car is mint!

Once I have done this, Ideally I need to coat all the arches and all the little areas with some sort of corrosion provension shite! What do we recommend?

Cheers me dears!

Most of you know that I'm not one for working on my car myself too much:) (When it comes to anything in the engine bay that is) But...

My rocker cover has started loosing oil all the way round it now.. So I thought I would change the gasket in the hope of getting a good seal again. (How hard can it be right?)

I've got to order the part, but wanted to check, I need item 6 of this diagram? :

The only reason I ask is because I don't know if I need item 8 as well?

Can someone give me an idiots guide to changing the rocker gaskets?

Or is it just a case of unscrew, remove old gaskets, Clean up the mating faces, put in new gaskets and use a bit of oil smeared round the seal? Tighten.

I can imagine it's easy to shear these bolts? I don't have a torque wrench...So I will just have to be careful!

I have found the loosen and tighten sequence, so that's a start!

Cheers all!

It is easy to shear them! Do not go anywhere near it with a torque wrench . Do them up as tight as you can with a 10mm on a screwdriver handle and nip them up with a ratchet. Shouldn't have any issues then.
