Phase 2 GTi

Thats an amazing settlement! a grand and to be repaired at your discretion.
Should have enough for a FRP lightweight bonnet inc being sprayed too :)

I was pretty happy with that, I honestly thought I would come away with 400 quid or something!

I did have a look at those bonnets, but they are 230 before being sprayed aren't they? So about 400 sprayed and fitted I guess... I just want to get it back to the way it was before for as cheap as possible to be honest.

I'm hoping to get a list of what I need on Monday next week, then I can start gathering everything together. The sooner I get it done, the better!

A little bit of an update... I sent in an email to Banzai around a year ago to enter their 'street life' competition. Well, it finally made it into the magazine... Due to the time it took to get in the mag, a few things have changed since then, so its an old pic with a few mod's missing, but a good pic anyway!

The car with the most votes in the month wins and gets entered into the final at the end of the year... See the link below, the pic with the most 'likes' wins.... So get voting :)

With regards to the repair, it should be going in over the next couple of days, I've had a reasonable quote which leaves me with a little cash left over. So I'm looking at going for some braided hoses and Dot 5.1 for starters.

What is the general feeling on the hoses? Goodridge or HEL? I can't see there being much in it?

I noticed the car is starting to get some surface rust around the seatbelt mounts, so that is something I will sort as soon as I get the car back.

Can't wait to get it back! :)

as per text today, i saw the mag ad thought fcuk yeah well done.

well done on opt'in for married life, let me know how it goes............... serious.
new lines ad fluid makes a nice difference

Ha! I know, it wasn't very good planning was it! We had the choice of that weekend, or the last weekend in September and due to the two weeks for the honeymoon it would have clashed with Uni and other stuff if we went for the last weekend. Sorry!

I did make her aware that she might have to celebrate the following anniversary's with the AOC

Cheers Dave! To be honest, I don't think it will be much different to how it is now, as we have lived together for 5 1/2 years!

Nice. Go for HEL lines bud, me experience with goodridge wasnt good ha chuck some uprated pads in too. Then if theres a little left over id recommend some poly bushes.

I've got yellow stuff pads and standard discs at the mo, so the lines and DOT 5.1 should finish it off nicely...
I could really do with Poly bushing the whole car! Only got front and rear engine mounts at the mo.

I'm holding off spending until I get the car back though, just in case I get a call from the repairers saying 'actually, we need this part' etc... So I need a bit of back-up cash!
Once I get it back, I shall see what funds are left over and get a few new bits.

Then I need to pay someone to do a Turbo conversion for me! :) Quite fancy it... Just a low boost set-up, nothing major.

yeh, it's defo an option... but like I said, I would need someone off here to do it for me... I can do basics, but not an engine swop or conversion... It would still be my daily, thats why I just fancy a low boost setup, for reliability and drivability... and too much boost through the front wheels = fail!

SHE'S BACK !!! :)

Not sure why the second pic has put a funny blur on the bonnet?

Anyway, its all finished, they have done a cracking job as you can see. They managed to repair the bonnet, wing and bumper. So I only needed to source and indicator and headlight. You can't quite see in that pic, but the indicator thats in at the moment is cracked across the lense and has a chunk missing, I'm just waiting on another one to arrive. (Thanks Nistro) I had the cracked one in the garage, so I gave it to the repairers to use to line everything up, as the other was completely anhialated!!

They resprayed the bumper, wing and the bonnet... so they removed all the stone chips that were in the bonnet before, which is nice, as it was covered in them. The repair and respray cost £450... Which is very very cheap I think and I am very pleased with the job for that price! I was expecting it to be a lot more.

It's good to have it back! Just need to put the bits back on now like VZR rears, Wind deflectors etc... as I did plan to get rid...... But not anymore!:)

Duuude that's awesome glad your keeping her and the paint job looks sweet as a nut , I think the blur is just a reflection of a crack in the clouds ;)
But I'm on phone so can't be sure.

Looks like a great job well done, shame insurance are so fond if scrapping these cars from something that is easily repaired
