UK devoid of SRi's

Bite the bullet and get a 1.4 ,if you see a 1.6 after sell the 1.4 and buy a 1.6! or just change the engine, shouldnt be too hard as theryr near enough the same engine!

My 1.4 aint fast by all means nor is any 1.6 to that extent. ive had my 1.4 for a while (3years) ,and ive never had another 1.4 pull away from me i think people are suprised tbh as every other person of your age thinks its an old biddys car so it must be slow, but in reality put any alloys on a 3dr car and youll have all the chavs thinking its quick!
why an Sri ? just find another 1.6 3dr after all its only the trim thats different!

Yeah if you find a non-SRi 3 door you can put all the other bits and pieces on later.

This is how mine looked when I bought it:

And it looks basically like this now:

It's obviously not a huge difference but it doesn't look so shit now lol. Didn't cost too much to change the looks either, and there's still more to do lol.

One other thing to look for when buying a non-SRi is that some of the budget spec models didn't have ARBs. Mine didn't although several others do, so that's one to check.

The only problem guys is there arn't any 3dr 1.6's except the SRi. I don't think they made any. Not even parkers acknowledges their creation. Perhaps a saloon 1.6 could be an option though I guess.

There's that but it's miles away, probably a con with the mileage and price? There are two 80,000 miles very nice 3 door Si's there.

Even the 1.4 will be leaps and bounds ahead of the old 55bhp Fezzy speed wise, so shouldn't be too bad. The Si has lots of cool features also so. The old fezzy was useless. I had to bury it just to get to 40 on duel carriageways. Thinking back, the 1.4 Mera should be a vast improvement.

I have a red 3dr 97 R SRi on 85k, no tax or mot though. Its been in the for sale thread for ages.
Has GTi front brakes, rear disc brakes, strut braces, GTi suspension, cat back and 421 header, light weight flywheel and uprated clutch.

Save for an SRi.. much better interior.
Joe

Not sure dude. For a 1.4 GX the cheapest quote I can find, paying monthly, is £1575.20 with Churchill, on Third party fire and theft. The Si will cost a tad more, the SRi a lot more I expect. The above quote is with my father as a named driver, too.
