updates on the n14 vvl/ nos/ lsd project

goin on how superdans car read on a dastek it seemed higher than a dyno dynamics, more like a dynojet so i can sort of see it being 190+

if however it was surrey or a dyno dynamics similar i tthink it'd make 170 odd

all down to the dyno tbh.....cue the 'just a tuning tool' spiel

good luck with the mapping though man.....even if you have come down a long way from wanting stock gtir power, then to 200, now to 175

vvl n14 for the totally unbiased win

No hence why I highlighted that it only engages under load above

why does the engine being under load make any difference to oil pressure?

the car being revved at 5000rpm stationary is surely gonna create the same oil pressure as revving to 5000rpm while moving... the pump still spins at the same speed... (theory)

i know a VZR doesnt engage VVL stationary but i assumed that was down to a speed sensor...

Ross your correct, its the same pressure, and if your cams are switching then you will hear them switch as nos has now found out, when i rev mine past 5k you hear it straight away change note.

Dont get your hopes up dude.

DMsteve's 20ve with boltons only made around 175. 200 would have to be a miracle or some high reading dyno shit!

That was running sr16 cams too, as he had the same spec as my engine apart from his hadnt been rebuilt.

Mapping actually started couple of hours on the dyno, injector packed in. Going to test and fit some pulsar injectors tomorrow and resume mapping. Engine burning a bit of oil.

well put it this way, i've revved mine above my switch points a loads of times while stationary and not once has it changed sound or switched

on the dyno or road when it switches the sound difference is insane....like the end of the world is nigh

might be an idea to get yours car on a dastek dyno mate, just as there is so much talk about them over reading and others over reading, we need to sort this once and for all lol.

hang on dan you're saying yours switch while stationary?! or am i misinterpreting

Joes right, the change over isnt as load but it switches, which is normal, im shore that vzrs/n1s have it in the map on the ecu to not engage until a certain temp which is maybe why you think there not meant to switch.

Are you running a DE ecu?

Maybe thats why yours was so much down on power, might have been broken??

dan i'll happily run on the same dyno as you if you like.....i'll be going to HLM like a lot of the other big aoc builds too....you should too then we can all compare properly

i'm not buying this thing of them switchin but not as loud. With my powerland and 3" zorst the noise difference is phenomenal, i'd know if they'd changed and they don't when stationary.

mine wont rev past 6k stood still, needs to be at operating temp and doing over 20kph to switch

Yeah thats what i thought, i can wire my mss to the temp sensor and set it to not engage until a certain temp to but i just dont switch them till its hot

dan i ain't rising to that sunshine, you'd be lucky to make 180bhp on surrey :)

Its not always about figures mate and i wasnt having a go, id love to take it to another dyno, but aint you coming up to see wezz soon.....? Could maybe arrange it for then on a dastek, as ill be putting mine on again soon?
