how many uk spec silvia's do u see? how many uk spec skylines do u see? sales are really poor.. in japan lots of silvias and skylines were sold... it's all based on sales, and if a car isnt selling, it's not worth doing...

and yeah renault part bought em out, they've made em look nicer, but build quality and performance in my opinion has went down

If you know your JDM cars, you'll notice not many of the B16 Honda's are UK cars.

You dont see many UK spec Silvias because there aint any, it was never sold over here. and the previous S14/a sold quite well IIRC.

And the Skyline, they only sold the R34 over here because they realised how well the R32 & 33 were doing in the import markets, so they realised the demand for them. They were all sold through Middlehurst Motorsport too and I think they only had a certain quota of cars.

Nissan weren't stupid, they know they weren't gonna sell huge amounts of Skylines so they only brought over a few, you gotta remember how much they were asking brand new. Cars like this have a much better second hand market hence why so many get imported.

the S14 sold well? then why did the ones they couldn't sell get moved onto a large field because they couldnt be sold? lol.

s14 owner told me this for the record..

LOL

VTEC is not a performance engine, its basically a comprimise between economy and power. Therefore it is actually pretty awesome at what it does. And the new i-vtec system is again even more efficient.

The problem us honda owners got are the ammount of chavs that think "vtak" is an out and out performance machine and they aint. Although my na prelude still did under 7 secs 0-60 and weight a tonne and a half. Most civic type r drivers i have seen would prefer to dye there hair then make there car faster.

true iirc vtec open the valve even less than a standard fixed cam car at low engine speeds to give great economy and the high leift comes in when the engine needs to produce nice power...

the v-tec engins are amazing i cant fault them, when i drove my mates EP3 typeR
i was astounded at how livley the vtec engine is , if only nissan had made an engine that could rival the power / performance and still keep it to a 2 Litre engine.
the only thing that nissan have got to rival it is the RB26DET lump which although is a fucking awsome engine, it is just too big to fit in an almera.

SR16VE puts out 169bhp, while B16A puts out 168bhp

1 - 0 to Nissan ;)

SR20VE puts out 196bhp, while K20A puts out 197bhp (UKDM) and 222bhp (JDM)

1 - 1

Honda don't turbocharge, so Nissan wins 2 - 1 :D

so what size + power do these motors put out as standard

sr16ve n1 is "around" 200bhp, book figures and actual figures seem a bit different but other manufacturers seem the same, sr20ve is 197bhp iirc with more torque than the sr16's.

to me honda and nissan are both great companys, theres probably more hondas i would like to own than nissans tbh, most nissans are nothing specail anymore, look back to the 80's and there were some great cars being produced, even in the 90's they seemed a bit more sedate, bluebird turbos were replaced by 2.0 NA primera eZX's, great cars but they should have kept the turbo thing going imo. after the early 90's the almera GTi was the only great car they produced imo, not including the skylines/200s etc but honda kept the type r's going and nissan just stopped with anything specail.
