they didnt install them as the almera is hardly seen as a civic type R or civic VTi competitor in the UK

Thing is theres more and more VVL cars on teh road now, such as toyotas, VVTLi or whatever it is lol.

Lets hope they start putting the VEs in nissans in future to follow this VVl trend
*crosses fingers and closes eyes! :)

the v-tec engins are amazing i cant fault them, when i drove my mates EP3 typeR
i was astounded at how livley the vtec engine is , if only nissan had made an engine that could rival the power / performance and still keep it to a 2 Litre engine.
the only thing that nissan have got to rival it is the RB26DET lump which although is a fucking awsome engine, it is just too big to fit in an almera.

It's an RB26DETT bud.

Fit an SR20DET into the Almera or turbocharge the current engine.

Even at 7 psi, you'll make over 200 BHP.

fucking usless bastards at nissan grrrrr
they should make interchangeable lumps ..

EH?

What do you think people have been doing for the last 10 years.

Swapping in SR20DET's from Pulsars and Bluebirds.

Maybe i should have done a bit mor research before making some of the coments i have, but then again all you guys have answered any question i had with your replys.
nice one thanks.

Rick.

well i can see the advertising point of view but its still not going to be as good as the aoc !

just because they rev higher, doesnt mean there faster  skyline :rasp: pulsar :rasp: silvias(drifting legends)

actually a higher rev limiter in some cases would really help. to me and you a gear change takes no time at all, on the drag strip or race track that could be a lot!

spoon shown a video of their civic that goes to 10,000 rpm and raced it against another one that can only do 8,000rpm, the difference was way more than i ever imagined... ill try to dig it out

edit: found it

i guess if youve got the power right up to that sort of rpm it could come in handy on the strip, very slight advantage.

i remember racing an MG ZR in my sunny, while i was changing into 3rd he was still in 2nd up to 73mph!

spoon sports is crap? lol

raced a ZR when i first got my car though, unbelievably slow, i purposely took roundabouts slow as i just didnt have enough driving experience, and was even on the slower inside lane, but as soon as i was on a straight it was laughable lol, even beat an arsetra with a slipping clutch

power = torque X rpm/5252

there fore the higher rpm you run the more power you produce..personally i love high revving cars and find if you use the gear box right having power high in the rev range is great crack

people have said to me in the past, change gear before your rev limit, because theres not a lot of power higher up. this is true theres not AS MUCH power top end of the revs but think about it. the higher you rev, it means when you change gear your dropping back into the peak torque range......

crikey, one advertisment for a vtec based site and its a nissan vs honda full on blazing arguement!

And the Skyline, they only sold the R34 over here because they realised how well the R32 & 33 were doing in the import markets, so they realised the demand for them. They were all sold through Middlehurst Motorsport too and I think they only had a certain quota of cars.
Saw a pretty mint silver one today in Portobello across from the coffee shop, it still had it's Middlehurst plates; "R40 GTR".
I was drooling coffee all over the table

power sells cars tourque wins races.. 200BHP SR20DET V's 197BHP VE id have my cash on the DET all day long..

really?

I would say it depends how there racing, i would say the n/a on the 1/4 would be quicker. bags of torque = wheel spin.

197bhp VE assuming thats in reference to a CTR, there not exactly famous for big torque figures...

wouldnt a 200bhp SR20DET have in the region of 250Nm of torque where the CTR VE engine only has 196Nm. kind of speaks for itself really :)
