if its a small area to be painted you can get genuine nissan paint on ebay. 10 quid and includes a can of clear coat.

Wanna spray bump strips and door handles, splitters front and back and skirts. You think the ones off the bay will match/be good enough for job?
 
Hi guys, not been on here for while been real busy wi work and not really had time to much to the whip. Everytime I save a bit, it gets spent on bills lol. Any way enough of the winge.

I got a question hope you guys can help. I got this anoying creaking sound coming from nearside when turn wheels at low speed (5-10mph) been told by few peeps its my CV joint and is either dry or needs replacing. One dude said I need a new drive shaft?!
If I need a drive shaft, will a GTI one fit/work wi no problems/modifications needed, any advantage with this? I know changing the shaft is easier than just changing joint. Or should I just change the CV joing wi another from 1.6.

Not sure that the Gti will fit as the gearboxes will be very different. Just source a complete sri driveshaft. Much less hassle. Oh and it should be more of a clicking/knocking sound if its badly worn. If its creaking, might be a split boot and simply needs some more grease.
 
Kinda thought about that about gear box etc. Think I'm best sourcing a 1.6 shaft instead.

Simcard: I've looked at boot, looks kinda cracked but not ripped yet (I don't think). Its defo not knocking, its kind more of a grinding noise.

Corbs: Think it might be hard to get vid but i'll try now.

Maybe the topmount bearing is giving up? Maybe CV joint?

More light may be shed by others.

Coming to the Northern meet on Sunday (see thread) Maybe get a diagnosis lol.

As for paint code, I aint got a clue mush, your friendly neighbourhood Nissan dealer will help.
 
Right it sounds alot like a cv joint.

If possible can you jack one wheel up, have the handbrake on as tight as possible, start the car in neutral then put into 2nd gear. Now give turn the wheel, see if it makes the noise, if not apply the brake to the point of stalling then see if it makes it.
Try it with both sides i.e one wheel off the ground at a time. If it does its the CV.
If your not confident with having one wheel on the ground, try first with both wheels in the air although without someone there to get up close and listen whilst you do it, its harder to tell which side it is.

NNissan: Thanks mate. I love ma lil whip. only seen one other white 5 dr SRI in preston but thats a P1. Whites not a common colour. Not sure why coz i think they look great. Got lots of plans for the whip so stay tuned mate. lol
 
Funnily enough I came on to a round about earlier to see a white 5 door almera going off the other side. It'd got lost in traffic before I could make out what model it was or anything. Nowhere near Preston. I'm going to be on the look out for it! Most probably a GX or something I expect though. And I'll definetly keep an eye on your thread mate.
 
HI guys quick question, I'm trying to change my anti freeze ready for winter. Thing is the nut on the engine block won't budge and my attempts to un-do it is kinda making the head rounded so stopped. I know i can disconnect the hose and some of it will pour out from rad, but i wanna take it all out including whats in/around the engine block. so any ideas how to take all of it out. Been told to disconnect hose and flush with water via hose. Thing is, i'm thinking the flow through block is thermostatically controlled so putting in cold water will close the valve right? so water won't flow straight through. Any help much appreciated.
 
Hi guys not posted mods on here for quite a while. Thought Its time to show off some bits n pieces I've done.
A while ago I noticed people were doing the Phase 2 light mod to make the crystal headlights look like the gti ones. Around the sameish time Audi brought out the slick LED lights. So I thought why the hell not. I had a few ideas which i'll show you but in the end decided to go with simplicity as it often works quite well. This tho I'll leave for you guys to tell me.

Having trialed the lights i decoided to stick with the simple one and banged them in the car. These lighths work off a switch on the acc position on the ignition. My side lighths are still there and there ate the lights in the botom grill still there but i changed them to white. (got pulled over byb the feds too many times with the blue light mods.) So go easy on me guys/gyals. what ya think? :confused:

Also done the rear wiper mod and put it in flat position. I'd put some pics up but have none! But ya'll know what it looks like i'm sure. Will defo put pics up when get time. Following the lights mod I needed some alloys. So Opted for some Good ol GTI ones. Picked up these babies for £120. Mint condition with Eagle F1 on 2 tyres nearly new and Yokohama something or other on the other two brand new. spare alloy has Pirelli so quite chuffed really. Some pics of me puttin the new shoes on. Think looks much better now. However I plan to spray them white havin seen one GTI alloys in white up close and personal. White GTI's look the dogs danglies :D
