A little something to keep me busy

My enthusiasm continued. Although I may have gotten a little excited with the grinder.

Decided I would rub down and primer inside the front arches. First task was to try again to undo the 3 rotten/round nuts on each arch (ones that connect to the bumper). I gave up after 30mins and got the grinder.

Passenger side;
Definitely need new wings now.

So, tomorrow im actually going to start cutting the passenger side. Ill have to remove the carpets first though as a patch needed on the single skin part of the floor. Then Ill turn the car round and drop the rear subframe so I can strip, paint and poly bush it.

I wouldn't say patience or skill is involved! Ha. Just trying to get as much done this week as it wont get touched again until the middle of next year.

Made a start on cutting out the driver side rot. Made a hole in the floor. But I need to get an air hacksaw to cut the rest out as I cant get to all the bits with the grinder (passenger side was easy).

Rolled it back to its resting place for the next few months. I need to get the derv in there at the end of the week so had to angle it.

Also had a little play with the wiring. Managed to get the motors for the headlights working, the wipers working on all 3 speeds and the passenger window down (cant get it back up tho!! DOH).

I doubt ill do anything tomorrow as Ive got an L200 to service. Might start stripping the subframe down on friday though.

The difficult bit is going to be putting it all back together. I've already got 6 boxes of stuff removed, so reassembling in a years time wont be much fun! Have decided I'm going to buy a big box of stainless nuts and bolts too as the majority of what ive removed is rotten or partly rounded.

I can appreciate that. It's only been 5 months since I took the N16 apart but I'm seriously worried now about making sure I use the right bolts.

When I took it apart it was only going to be for the weekend. Had I known it was going to be for months I definitely would have done that!

I usually where i can put the bolts back in after ive removed the part.

Looks like a great project liam. Hope you see it through to the end :)

Ive decided on galvanizing all the metal work. Was going to silver powder coat but galv will last longer and be different.

Also, ARB droplink polys are £42 a set. I think home mades with TotalSeal180 will suffice.

KYB Excel-G shocks come in at £280. PI -40mm springs are £85.
