Autech Pulsar GTi

Dont really know mate, but Ive got the factory sales sheet for an Autech which states 11.5...

The Autech is 11.5:1 becuase the head is skimmed by about 1mm, reducing the cumbustion chamber volume.

Regular DE 53j chamber is about 46cc
IES prepped DE 53j Chamber is 36cc
Autech 53j chamber comes out at around 38cc

Wait a minute bud, I've just read that the IES cylinder head has receieved a 2mm head skim.

Please tell me that this is not a regualr 53J high port cylinder head?

I had 1mm taken off my 53J high port cylinder headand the reason I could go no more than that was it caused misalignment of an oil gallery for the camshaft feed.

Even 1mm was pushing it to be honest!

Yeah its a 53J Highport Head.

Where is this cam oil feed gallery? The head has had some work opening up the galleries....

As far as I can remember, it's the holes that are directly north of the spark plug holes.

What concerns me is that they may have used a custom gasket or reworked the feeds on the block to compensate.

Ok cheers, I hoped you'd say those, they are definately opened up on the head itself.

Everthing looked fine with the HG overlayed anyway.

I guess i'll have to wait and see, i'll finish assembling the head today and turn the motor over to make sure oil is getting where it should.

Right, after bleeding the HLA's, the cams are now fitted at 0,0.

I fitted the intake manifold, starter motor, all wiring, hoses etc and did an oil and filter change too, fully synthetic 10w-50.

Turned the motor over by hand, as calculated, no binding or signs of P2V contact.

Fitted the battery and cranked it over on the key to get the oil pressure up, i was pleased to see the oil spray bars working perfectly and also my refurbed starter motor working a treat.

Im waiting for my new header before i fire it up though.

How it looks:
