Dave's P11

what did the dyno operator say about the engine going forwards? any room for improvements?

i myself would have expected the new header alone to give at least 10hp at peak, especially for that wonga eek.

i'd be gutted with these results imho mate. Fair play for trying new mod combinations though Dave

Why though? It's not all about the numbers, as Dave said, it drives so much smoother now and pulls a lot better

IIRC Didn't Rowdy lose power after fitting the 16ve pistons but knew himself that the car had a lot more torque and drove a lot better?

Nice work you must be well happy but what was all that talk of bolts shearing etc on the adjustable pulleys?

The gspec pulleys are shit. early remap this year the bolts were hand loose. we loctited them all good. yesterday one bolt sheared a thread out of the sprocket. greg said they crap. they seem to be like cheap £40 sprockets from ebay just badged as gspec.

davi boi the car drives like ive gained 10bhp+ the power comes in early and pulls like a train and the limiter is all that stops the pull. Greg said the manifold etc has helped give a longer stronger power right across the range

It was a different dyno so i couldn't use it as a comparison. I knew i'd gianed power but the later dyno run said i'd lost 10 whp! lol. Thats crappy dyno-dynamics for you.

Dont listen to David. D, as usual he's just stirring and making out he knows everything about dyno numbers. It's a great result and shows what a good tuner Greg is. Like you said its not all about peak nembers. You've gained everywhere and it holds it power for longer. This would pull 175whp easily on a dynojet, and would put Davids fudged 196hp to shame.

Ian - are these statements opinions or facts on paper?

not saying nothing untoward, as I said ‘if’ it were me I wouldn’t be content is all.
david

But if he goes to hlm and gets 197 you would be....

So if your car felt like it had gained 50hp, but your piece of paper only said 5 you would be disappointed.....

I just prefer Dynojet as you it's a better comparison with U.S builds. I dont care how it calculates power.

my car feels quicker some days and slower on others.

'dyno powers' dont relate to how fast a car is on the tarmac FACT!! Joe has shown thing time and time again lol well me to tbf in the reverse.

i dont drive like the Stig, so yeah when i spend my hard earnt money on my car - GOOD figures would be nice.
99% of the time i drive 30mph in a 30, 40mph in a 40 and so on.

i myself care little towards US build figures. where do i live?.................. UK

proven 196bhp on stock 10:1 pistons with standard ecu, made it worth it.

it was @ Hi-Tech near Birmingham.

NPOC has been there twice. its where my lil bro corolla 190 t-sport with cat back and panel filter made 189bhp *mint engine on 21k at the time.

joe went there and made 155bhp with I/E/H/C
David

How you can stick to that figure with all the current and past build dyno results, done on respected rollers i dont know. You must be deluded?

So you think that your much milder cams, pretty much equal header/exhaust and stock ECU would net an EXTRA 20hp compared to primera daves results/spec?....the rest of must be doing it wrong & infact need to remove mods to gain power!

Remember Aldon?......you wouldn`t even put your money where your mouth is. :tt2:

Just my 2p worth I was at that dyno day and at the time I was well pleased with my figures and thought the 20bhp increase on the dyno compared to a DD was amazing but on the drive home the car drove like shite the timing was changed and all over the place and the car was actually slower and harder to enjoy driving.

Subsequent mapping and dyno time have proved that the figures I gained on a bad map with issues on fuelling were over inflated and I wouldn't trust those figures with my worst enemies life!

Start another thread about dyno talk guys.
Iam very intrigued to see how your 196 you got is exactly what I got on my 20ve with standalone and superior mapping.
Got any dyno sheets.
Also how many times have you run at 196.

I know for sure mine is consistent.

184-186 like 8 times
Then with more mapping194-196 like 5 times
Times on track and terminals back me up to.

On the 196 what was power at wheel David, and 175 primera Dave respectively thanks.

All these dynos got me confused

DD
Dyno jet
Dastek dynomometer

Help me..lol

Do I not remember you saying yours brothers car ran a very low figure, the dyno was adjusted and it ran a lot higher....
