Dave's P11

Oh im liking that!

BTW the silicone joiner that connects the MAF to the intake pipe looks to be a tad small? Id say that'll be holding the car back a small bit

well here we go peeps

FIRSTLY

greg got on with setting the cat cams up a word of warning they are miles out on stock set up.

inlet cam was out by 16 degrees

exh cam was out by 6 degrees

these were set.

then a compression test was done 190 across all 4

then a leak smoke test was done

then new grade 7 iridium plugs were fitted

HERE WE GO THE PART YOU ALL WANT

first power run was done AFTER the cam adjustment

bang in at 164bhp WITH naff fuel/air

so ended with
increased rev limit to 7200 and

172.1 fly BHP

151lb torque

and the nest sounding primera ever this bitch idles like angry meat head lol it pops rasps and quite genrally now sounds so sporty it unreal as ben will agree with

HOW DOES IT FEEL

HUGE difference no regrets at all. the best way to describe it is the power is soooooooooo smooth and strong (5th stupid it pulls double what it did before) it feels as if the car brand new and is MEANT to have the mods it drives that good.

it idles better more meaty sounding
it has power solid through the range as above shows

and i know it minor but again the car sounds so much healthier and REALLY sporty

Nice one bud, good strong results. Looks like the cam gears were a good choice.

cam gears on the 514 cams are defo needed as the cams are not right for oem set up at all there miles away he even said it will of caused all sorted of issues lumpyness flat spots. he said there was big power drops it was all over the place

Good results, i'm hoping to see something similar on Saturday.

Have to admit, i've been tempted by the cam gears but decided against them for the time being. We'll see what she runs with the proper AFR's first.

How long were you there for in the end?

Rick was there from 11-10.30 lol

id reccomend gears as the cams will be wrong no matter what you do. As cat cans got it wrong. Tge intake mles out

We'll find out soon. Lol

Thing is, mine runs completely different to yours with almost the same mods.

prob because my timing was at 20 degrees when altered timing the car idled/ran better etc. Be intresting if you do have cam timing issue cos i bet you will as if bolted in on stock sprockets and on a standard sr20 i cabt see how it wouldnt be out by same amounts imo. If you not had head work then the cams will surly sit etc same as mine

Can you please type properly please? It's a job just trying to read what it is your saying most of the time. Thanks

Dave, where did you get your plasma dials from? And would they be able to supply/make some for the Almera?

Thanks.

but you fitted cam sprockets. what is to say after fitting the sprockets the timing is 100% exactly the same as standard?

fact is, your car ran like CRAP until mapping.

ricks car was as fast, if not faster than my autech with 503's, higher comp and lesser fuelling problems.

there is a massive variable between your cars, and i dont know what it is. my speculation was either incorrect cam fitment on your part, or as i guessed, your compression is in fact 9.5:1, OR because your SRi cams are different, there is a discrepancy in the timing setup between the high power and lower power SR20.

there is too much to speculate, but end of the day, your car runs good now, ricks will run good on saturday, and catcams have suceeded in making good accurate believable power figures in what is essentially a stock engine.

as far as i know and am reliabily informed they same compression. So no difference.

Mine ran xrap due to massive advanced timing as explained above when brought back to 15 ran far better.

All im doing is giving advice on summit that quite likely to happen. Just didnt want rick going for remap to find he had to go back again to get cams set and then remap again that was all.

so what was the order of play yesterday? set a base map then adjust the sprockets untill the best compromise is found, then go for the full map? or full map then sprocket adjustment? asking as i dont know whats the done thing.
