Right Im not 100% up on this cam timing with cam gears and what the degree figures relate to, but the way I see it, Dave put them in at straight up stock timing position, that is assuming that the straight up centre mark on gspec cam gears is actually correct and is the same as stock timing to work from. Dave then phoned up Catcams to find the cam timing values they recommend for 514 cams, which Greg then adjusted the cams to and was some way different to the position of the cams when fitted at the stock timing position on the cam gears.
So, I cant see how unless a head skim has taken place on an engine(which would have to affect cam timing in such a way that using stock cam gears, the 514s go in at the recommended cam timing), 514 cams fitted to a RR SR20 will be able to have the recommended cam timing position by Catcams if fitted using stock cam gears? Correct me if I'm wrong somewhere as I dont entirely what the cam timing values relate to.
@Ed: Your car doesnt need cams, it goes blub blub blub blub anyway!
