Eddies Ride

props to spook on the work that he's done on the car.. but eddie, one thing i cant help pointing out.. do the fender braces not change where the crumple zone on the car is?!

They will do on a 50% front collision ie. when an oncoming car strays half into your lane. The braces are bowed outwards slightly though so they wouldn't really do much in that kind of crash. The other thing to consider is that they are attached to a structural part of the chassis (A-post) so the force would be partially transfered to that. It no different than having a tow bar when someone hits you up the arse. A fair point though.

To be fair the front/back of the car still have lots of crumple zones as all the structural mods don't go further then the front/rear strut towers, the structural modifications just put emphasis on a rigid safety cell. Mostly linking the front and rear axle with a almost space frame concept.

I like how the front feels connected to the back the car with no delay in energy movements when putting the car through its paces, I used to hate how the car felt when I first bought it like the rear wasn't connected to the front at times. It gives alot more confidence at high motorway speeds :)

Space framed safety cell'd Gti really?

Its more closer to a Space-Frame effect than ANY other car on this forum that i can think of!!

Why is it people hurl hate and chat shit at one person irrelevant of what they do, Eddie/Spook have done somat NO-ONE on here have done, maybe coz they don't have the balls or the pocket!!

2 bits of box section to strenghten the sills a pair of fender bars and a 4point rear strut bar does not constitute a space frame safety cell.

Its like saying because my car has a larger wing than most others its a aeroplane

Hence why I ain't commented good or bad because none of this I have ever experienced so I don't have the right to criticise... All I can say is fair play for trying shit tbh!
The space framed comment was far fetched but I don't think you genuinely meant it like it reads.
Nobody would be beefing if it wasn't Eddie who had done these mods tbh, bare sheep on this forum.

If only the other members would share the same concept

Yeh if your car is the only car to have a MASSIVE wing then, it'd be more aeroplane~ish than most cars. Its a figure of speech, no-point has anyone said that his car is a space-frame. Its along the same CONCEPT!!

Not being funny at all but the way you keep saying that before these structural mods you could feel the chassis bending and that the front and rear didnt really feel connected, sounds a lot like the car had a big crash at some point and was badly put back together! I doubt it has, but you make it sound like it and nobody else has mentioned having similar problems.

The thing is with chassis/structural modifications its very hard to tell what is happening until you've put these things on and tried them out. The strut braces that I've made and also Trug's one he had fabricated really do make a difference in the feel of the car (anecdotal evidence from customers). If you were to drive a car without one and then fit it and drive the same route/track again you should feel a difference. Most of the changes on this car should improve chassis stiffness by linking structural parts more directly and putting more strength into the body. It's all guess work to be honest but an educated guess. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Simple. Fit 2x 14" steelies for reduced drag. If anyone asks, ur going drag racing and they obv wouldnt understand ha. I dont understand how someone gets that close to anothers car, cunts! Always look on the bright side :-)
