Hello

Thanks for the rust tips.i looked at the one on ebay it was rotten on the inner arches and lots of surface rust boot floor and damp.

OK chaps ive now joined and guess what! I got an email from the guy with the gti i bidded on saying am i still interested as he was let down blah blah blah. Well yeah im very much interested, only problem is the guy is now being a total cock with me wanting to drive and see it and it ain't no 5 min journey i would have hoped. I wanted to go this morning and all i keep getting from him "i'm at work mate ok" he is getting on my tits! and ive joined the forum without an almera lol.

Anyone know the history of the one on autotrader phase 2 reckons its only done 52.900 miles reg no vbz 1099 looks mint.

U may be right there ive just got the guy to send me document ref no through and he aint coming across at all and he says the paintwork is horrendous down the passenger side.

Exacltly that i just got indoors from looking at the one in autotrader, until i drove the thing and the handling was horrific and had no brakes as the pads needed renewing. obviously someone had chopped the springs to lower not to mention the paintwork, but genuine 52.000 miles and i drove to west london and walked away with a total original phase 1 very well looked after and every mot and service history since the car was born. Im a very happy chap and thanks everyone for your help.

Bloody hell chunk can it wait til tomorrow, i'm f****d just got indoors mate, i have been out since 11am this morning to find one that floats my boat mate.

Light would be better chunk. honestly i have had to bring the other half in tow along with my 5 year old nutty son. i've had it.

I does have a few niggling issue's too like the rear tail light's don''t work. The key fob don't open the door's and the blower only work's on setting high.

fuse has gone, fob needs reprogramming and heater card needs replacing.

Looks like a very tidy car.

^ this.

Also first order of business should be ditching those hideous wipers!

Looks to be a lovely example.

ps. I've got a spare heater resistor card, haven't fitted it (as I just soldered the break in the old one) but was assured it was fine when I got it.
You can sometimes fix them by soldering the break. Five minute job to fix/replace.
